To be honest I don't want to know but I'm shocked that with the details released today about domestic abuse in which one MILLION calls were made to the police about it - or 8% of ALL crimes!

That's just the calls made - how many more abuse goes on that isn't reported to the police?

The Official definition of domestic abuse in England and Wales is:

"Any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive, threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those aged 16 or over who are, or have been, intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or sexuality."

The behaviour captured in this definition includes:

"… a pattern of acts of assault, threats, humiliation and intimidation or other abuse that is used to harm, punish, or frighten their victim".

Source: Home Office

I know I'm a living dinosaur and of course abuse happened back in my time as well but one million calls to the police - I'm speachless really.

Is this type of thing normal in society these days?  Do you know about stuff going on that shouldn't from family or friends or is it the practice of the chav familys and those from other cultures and religion's that now live amongst us?

It' something I glad to say I've no experience of.

Worth watching the 2 minute video of Justin Lee Collins ex, telling us what he got up to with her - half way down the link below.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-28860213

Why though - yet another thing I just don't understand these days.

No, absolutely not.

I'm not going to mess about for the usual comic effect on this thread.

I've been with Mrs B for nearly 15 years now and I wouldn't ever dream of abusing her in any way.

We have similar backgrounds in as much as we both got married far too young the first time round and for the wrong reasons - I thought I was going to be a Dad and she got coerced into marrying her long-term boyfriend from school because he asked her and she didn't know how to say no.

Turns out, it wasn't my kid and Mrs B's first husband was a serial philanderer who had an affair with her Aunty and wound up having a kid with her (- I shit thee not!).

Anyway, my point is, if there were ever going to be two completely un-trusting individuals who would find it hard to form "normal" relationships, on paper at least, it should have been us.

But because we hit it off immediately and established from Day One that if it ever didn't feel right or either of us got bored, we'd tell the other and make a grown-up decision rather than soldier on in an unhappy relationship or start to stray, we've never had any problems.

Trust really is the bedrock of any relationship and we trust each other unconditionally.

I would never hurt her and I know she feels the same because we've both had it done to us in the past.

So there you go, call it soppy, girlie shit if you want, I don't care, but I know that I would never want to take advantage of Mrs B's fantastic nature because (A) I love her too much and I would never want to hurt her and (B) I struck really lucky when I met her and I'd be a complete dickhead to jeopardize what we've got.

I've never understood it. It's always been there of course (my Gran knocked my Grandad out with a ham shank) but not to the extent we have now. I live near a couple who seem to have the cops out nearly every week, and she's frequently seen sporting a black eye,but she says 'it's just how we are'. Sad really. If I raised my hand I fear I'd be sent packing, with my testicles posted on to me in a handy sized Jiffy bag.

She works with a woman whose husband I used to work with at Warbies years ago.

And she's the most miserable, sour-faced, "chip on her shoulder" witch you could ever meet.

He's just a dick.

And they've both been having long-term affairs for the last ten years, her with some scouse car dealer who she hangs onto because he'd wadded and throws money at her but has told her he'll never leave his wife for her and him with some bird he works with.

It's common knowledge to everybody else but they both seem to pretend they don't know what the other's up to and it's farcical.

Every so often they have a blow up and he attacks her and gives her a slap but the "Great Secret" remains unrevealed during their hostilities.

God only knows why they put up with it. (Well actually, for her, it's all about the money because she's milking both idiots dry, but fuck knows why he puts up with it. I think he's scared she'll do him in a divorce and he'd lose everything so he puts up with it.)

And they're both incredibly miserable.......all the time.

She tells the girls in the office that she's going to engineer a row as soon as she walks in the house, just so she doesn't have to speak to him......

Can you imaging living like that......?

If you're reading this VS, (I know you're a Bolton season ticket holder, so you may be), you're a dick pal.

Wake up and sort your life out.....

I have beaten up most of my boyfriends at some point. They deserved it. They've only needed an ambulance twice mind.

Funny, there was a big case recently an MMA fighter called "war machine" beat his porn star girlfriend nearly to death, tried to rape her and cut her hair off with a kitchen knife, and despite all that there were still people lining up to defend him on twitter.

"we dont know the whole story doh" "she cheated on him doh"

I mean, wow. The pictures are on twitter, disgusting really.

Just shows why so many domestic abuse cases go unreported when it's met with constant attempts to blame the victim.

Sluffy, yesterday in your misogynist post, you were abusing and decrying ALL women as inferior, weak creatures. It didn't sound as if there was much respect involved. Do you voice those opinions of yours at home? If so, how does your partner respond?
