After experiencing his first taste of action in a Bolton Wanderers shirt at the weekend, Owen Garvan believes that he has set himself in good stead for the duration of his stay at BL6.

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, who signed on loan from Crystal Palace last week, completed 65 minutes on his debut alongside Jay Spearing in central midfield as Wanderers fought out a 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday.

Although pleased to have seen gotten his first appearance for the club under his belt, Garvan is determined to build on a solid start to his Bolton career.

“It was a hard-fought game, though admittedly it was a little bit frustrating,” said Garvan. “We could have created a few more chances but the main thing is that we didn’t lose the game and that we picked up a point.

“A draw is never the worst result in this league. At home we would like to win, but we’ll take the draw and now we move on to the next game.

“Games come thick and fast in the Championship - we’ve got another game on Tuesday and we can hopefully go one better against Rotherham.”

With the 26-year-old having come into the Trotters’ starting eleven alongside recent absentees Dean Moxey and Mark Davies for the clash with the Owls, Garvan admitted that he already feels at home in the team despite having only been with the club for a brief period of time.

He continued: “It does take time, but saying that we can see out there that little things were coming together - it’s one of those where the more we play together, the better it’ll get.

“Come Tuesday, if we get a good result then the pressure is off and hopefully we’d be able to go a run.”

Fair play to the lad, he's already fluent in Dougie bollocks.

he was no better or worse than the other tripe we had in midfield, took some good corners though i suppose.

Garvan looked better than Trotter, Pratley and Medo to me, so good luck to him

I thought he played pretty well, was vocal and a decent left foot, lets hope he improves with more time on the pitch.
