One discount store to watch out for is Hema. They recently opened up their first UK store at Victoria Station, in London, and are currently looking to expand in the UK in a big way.
Very little food, but they are the Dutch equivalent of what our Woolies was!

Daren't try and say "pick and mix" as pick is the exact same sounding as Dutch word "pik" which means penis!
I presume the best way to say it in Dutch would be "plukken en mix"

And Wilko's and Home Bargains
I presume this is now a 4-way fight to see who can succeed as the best replacement for Woolies.
It would be interesting if both Xenos and Blokker also started opening shops over here!

I have to admit it always bring a smile to my face when I see a Woolworths in the US or even Woolworths and Safeway in Australia - as they still exist!

Well spotted, that man.
Glad you "pikked" up on that......
And for the record, "plukken en mix" just sounds rude.
Dirty, liberal-minded Dutch bastards.......

Now could you imagine a Dutch person with severe dyslexia and got kip and pik mixed up?
kip is chicken (as in the animal) in English!
