Lord of the Rings.

Too long, too slow and too boring. I only read it when I was going through a hippie phase in the 60s.

Eyeless n Gaza by Aldous Huxley.

Had it recommended to me by a colleague a few years ago.

Unintelligible nonsense.

Ulysses,by James Joyce.
It would probably be more understandable if you read it backwards. Most Overrated Book Reading-stories-smiley-emoticon

I've heard the Quran's like that.

I agree... although I have read a number of novels by Dan Brown while on holiday and found them to be passable reading. Deception Point wasn't bad.

Just finished Doctor Sleep by Stephen King, sequel to The Shining. Took about 6 month to read because just couldn't get into it. Starts slow, gets slower then finishes.

Which Dan Brown novel was it where the hero jumped out of a helicopter and used his jacket as a parachute?

Was it the same one where he tapped out "S.O.S." in Morse Code on an iceberg to alert a randomly passing US submarine?

Sorry, the DaVinci one was ok, but he obviously felt under pressure to repeat it and tried just that little bit too hard.

For the cash....

11/22/63 by Stephen King.

Interesting premise on the face of it.

Turned out to be a let-down.

A bit self-indulgent if you ask me, (we all know he's got a thing about Kennedy's assassination by now - he's long since said as much) and this book could have been so much better but it constantly errs on the side of the obvious when it could have been so much more thought provoking.

I was waiting for the twist.

Right until page number 750........

But it never arrived.
