He had them playing negative, defensive, cautious football when they needed to be setting out to score goals and win games.

Isn't England exactly the same?

The FA are their own worst enemies. If they just went with the candidate that the majority of the country want for once, it's not them that look like the idiots at the end of it.

It's easy to criticize Hodgson's tenure at Liverpool but it's as if the dice was loaded from the start. Dalglish has spent in excess of 100 million ( 35 mill on Carroll ) and they wont even qualify for the Europa League. West Brom are only 3 points behind Liverpool so who is the better manager?

RT, Liverpool are in next season's Europa League, already, by winning the League Cup!

Always thought this was on the cards but the timing is excellent. Spurs form dipped when 'Arry was in the frame - maybe the Baggies form will dip too?

What i find most amusing about this story, is not Roy being looked at, it's the english media.

They really are hilarious.

If you'd come from space and knew nothing about Football you'd assume England had dominated world football for the best part of 100 years and had 11 of the worlds best players in every position.

They're obsessive about making any Englishman under the age of 24 "one of the worlds best young players" Downing, Smalling, Jones, Wilshere, Ashley Young, Aaron Lennon and so and so on.

Once an Englishman reaches peak age of 26-29 the move from they worlds best YOUNG player to the worlds BEST player in that position.

Ashley Cole, Steven Gerrard, John Terry, Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney.

utterly laughable.

Looking increasingly like a done deal. Let's hope the Baggies go to pieces.

Bugger me, what's that giant knob protruding from his head ? He looks like he is sat on the other end of it.

One of the most ridiculous appointments of all time. Roy Hodgson is a decent PL manager, nothing more. When he was at a big club, Liverpool, he failed because he couldn't deal with the big name players and their egos.

Harry knows how to deal with these players and isn't scared to leave them out. And more importantly, he'd have got the best out of the talent we do have - with Hodgson it'll be more defensive displays just like under Capello.

Now official that he IS the England manager for the next 4 years.

Think I will buy the new Dutch top for this years Euro's!!! Better chance than England in winning it!

He's got far more experience at many different levels than Droopy has.

Which puts him a cut above.

I think what ARRY brings (apparently) is his man management, and lets be honest the England job is less about stats, and cups and experience and more about managing a bunch of pampered tossers.

these players have been told they're the best in the world from an early age and have huge huge ego's.

I'm not sure Roy will be able to manage the clowns honestly.
