Swiss fourth tier side FC Grenchen haven’t had the best of starts to the season, winning one game, conceding 80 goals and sitting at the bottom of the league. The team were beat 10-0 on Saturday, but it seems the club are sticking by their manager after sacking 11 first team players.
Whenever a team is struggling in football, it usually ends badly for the manager.
So, after collecting just five points from 14 games, conceding 80 goals and sitting bottom of the league, you’d think the manager would be heading for the exit. Well, you thought wrong.
The Swiss team have sacked the 11 players who started in the 10-0 defeat with Grenchen’s sporting director Renato Brun saying: “It sounds brutal, but these players are not good enough for this league.”
Coach Boesch also said that he has no issue with Brun’s decision: “It works well and is not an issue. Others would have long since chucked in the towel in his situation.”
