Yeah and it's got a butty shop joined onto it now owned by food and booze. Pretty useless as a shop they sell sod all in there. Butties aren't bad but the butchers on coniston over the road are much better.boltonbonce wrote:Know it well. Is Food 'n' Booze still on Cleggs lane?

So is the spa to be honest bread. I don't go in he white lion anyway. Full of nobheads looking for trouble.Breadman wrote:The in-laws are your neighbours, 58.
They live just further round Old Lane / Captain Fold near the shop known as "The Spar" even though it's not been a Spar for twenty years.
Stay out of that White Lion - it's a dangerous dump.

Do you ever go in the Dun Mare, mate?
We've got a tradition at Christmas where I go in for a few with the wife's Dad and her brothers while her and her Mum get the grub on.
I'll wear me "I hate Brucey!" T-shirt this year, just in case you're in.

Used to go in the Dunny every sunday. Mainly to get over Saturday night. It used to be nice and quiet in there on a sunday.
The Antelope was pretty decent too.
Have to say,Little Hulton seems pretty down at heel these days. Always feel a bit sad going back. Had some great times there.

Yep.We drive past it on the way to the match. Lucozade factory was up that way too. This might interest you. You can search Walkden and Farnworth too.Bwfc1958 wrote:Don't go in there tbh I know it though. Maybe I'll call in at Xmas. The antelope is a curry house now Bonce.

I'd like to say that's all bollocks but it's probably not far wrong. I drive a vauxhall vectra and that makes me a bit of a posh cunt round here. If you've got a better car than that in little hulton you're probably a drug dealer.

Worked all over Little Hulton/ Walkden in the past but there was place I didn't really feel comfortable on.

I remember when the railway line next to Food 'n' Booze was active. We used to sit on the banking waving to the engine drivers. (steam!)
Half way down Cleggs lane there was a farm. And what is now Betfred, used to be a bank, then later the Co-op.
It changed rapidly when the Salford overspill arrived.

My dad grew up round there and used to talk about stuff like that all the time. You could have had a right trip down memory lane with him Bonce sounds like you were from the same era.boltonbonce wrote:I remember when the railway line next to Food 'n' Booze was active. Aren't the TV studio's at the top of Cleggs lane?

Yes, I know The Raven's gone now.
Just using it as a Landmark for them that knew it

Tv studios are on the roundabout facing the gypsy site. I don't know about LH Albion. Before my time I would imagine.boltonbonce wrote:Aren't the TV studio's at the top of Cleggs lane?

Dead right. Only seems like yesterday I was marching down Cleggs lane as a cub scout,on my way to Brierley House for our meeting. I was a credit to my woggle. Happy days.Bwfc1958 wrote: The way this thread's turned out you would think the ancient lost city was Little Hulton.

Things change pretty quickly these days. When my boy grows up he will be saying, "remember when there used to be an iceland near the bottom of cleggs lane?". Where I grew up in halliwell is unrecognisable already and it was only 20/25 yea ago.
