The 20-year-old was targeted by Manchester United in the last transfer window after months of scouting.

But the striker has now pledged his future to the Championship side and will put pen to paper on a four-year deal in the coming days.

Clough has also been linked with Arsenal in the past.

How stupid is he? if he's got a possible exit then he should take it. If he can reclaim his form of last season then the best we can hope for is a large transfer fee if he moves on. Perhaps that's the logic behind this.
There's certainly no future at the minute with aspiring and talented young players at the Macron- especially with a genuinely realistic prospect of League 1 beckoning.

One game wonder in my opinion. Way too lightweight.

Good that the club is looking to stop our better players from leaving on frees.

He played well against Wolves last season, his other good game escapes me.

Vastly over-hyped player, he's essentially a schoolboy in a man's body.

His debut against Wigan in the F.A Cup.

I'd say he's the exact opposite

Worth tying him down on upside alone.

I actually think Clough's suffered this season from playing too deep, he is lightweight but once you get in the box that can be an advantage. Defenders know he's going down under any contact and with the speed of his mind and feet he's great at drawing fouls that are less likely to be given outside the area.

Closer he is to goal the more effective he is, I'll email Lennon now and let him know.

Zach Clough signs contract extension

Zach Clough has signed a contract extension with Bolton Wanderers, with the striker’s new deal set to run until the summer of 2019.

Currently side-lined with a shoulder injury, the 20-year-old previously signed a contract extension with the club earlier this year, shortly after scoring on his Whites debut against Wigan Athletic in January 2015.

The forward has made a total of 18 appearances for the club to date, scoring seven goals, while his efforts last season saw him nominated for the MBNA Northwest Football Awards' 2015 Mob Sport Rising Star of the Year award.

And Clough has now committed his long-term future to Bolton, extending his stay at Macron Stadium for a further four years.

Good business providing he sorts the shoulder out.

he has looked a bit lightweight so far this season, he definitely needs to bulk up a bit as he's been getting pushed off the ball too easily. All these niggly injuries don't help either as he never gets back to full fitness and get a run of games to discover the form he showed last season.

He may never make the first team again but at least he's sellable unlike the vast majority of the players we've had in the last few years.
