Most teams get an upturn in form when they get a new manager, lets hope Birmingham don't.

I rate him as a manager and think he may provide them with a chance of staying up.

One of the TV pundits (can't remember which one) also suggested that the points target to stay up this season will be around the low 40s rather than the 50+ needed last year.
Looking at the remaining fixtures for the main contenders for relegation, it's not inconceivable, but it's going to be tight and there will be a lot of pressure.
Burton, Reading, Brum, Barnsley and Hull all have games tomorrow night and we'll see if any of them are going to make a move when the dust settles.

Results pretty much went for us again tonight with both Burton & Reading getting dicked and Barnsley only picking up a point at home to Norwich.

Yep but a very good few days for Hull.

Hull look like they will pull clear, they have some genuine firepower so it's a surprise they are down there at all.

Hull ain't going down. Its ridiculous that they're even in the bottom half

The picture has cleared up a little after last night and the games in hand have been played, but I reckon it's tightened up. By the time we play Villa, Birmingham will have played Hull so I guess we'd prefer Hull to continue their winning streak and pull away from the battle leaving Brum two wins behind us.
Burton have been playing really well despite their results but Wolves shouldn't slip up at home, but Barnsley have a real chance at home to Millwall and Sunderland have Preston visiting so maybe a draw?
Immediately above us, Reading are away to Norwich who seem to be in a bit of a slump at the moment but hopefully Narch will see them off otherwise we may be back to a 5 or 6 horse race to the bottom, especially if Leeds don't beat the Owls.
All this chat about us getting close to being safe doesn't quite ring true as long as there's just a couple of wins in it and the fixtures each team has remaining. Anything against Villa would be a bonus.

If we could find 3 wins and a draw or 2 in our last nine games, we should be okay. We'd probably be safe with 2 wins and 2 draws, but let's not chance it.  Our fate is in our hands, and there is no reason we can't find those 2 or 3 wins.  Parky has to play smarter and for the 3 points, which he has been reluctant to do.  Hope that doesn't come back to bite us in the butt!

Tweet from Iles just now -

Jaap Stam sacked at Reading.
Phil Parkinson is BOUND to feature highly in that shortlist.

Championship club Reading have sacked manager Jaap Stam after a run of just one win in 19 league games.

Hopefully that won't stop reading continuing their spectacular decline.

Interesting set of results yesterday - results that should fire a warning across the bows about complacency - and the team were complacent against Leeds especially at the beginning of each half.
First Barnsley were unlucky not to win against Bristol, but got the point and showed enough to suggest they might survive. Then Reading squeak past QPR in Clements first game in charge. Sheff Wednesday beat Preston to effectively take themselves out of the relegation mix. And to top it off Sunderland batter Derby FFS and won deservedly.
Dangerous, dangerous times for BWFC especially as we have historically managed to be the ones to get ourselves relegated when its close at the bottom. This team needs to learn from that.

Yet another 3 points off Ipswich for a team down at the bottom.

McCarthy really is an all round twat, he shouldn't really be allowed to coach football teams.
