Crystal Palace have parted company with Ian Holloway by mutual consent just eight league games into the new season.

Manager Holloway and club chairman Steve Parish have been in talks over the last couple of days after picking up just three points since returning to the Premier League.

And the 50-year-old is thought to have offered his resignation twice on Monday night before deciding today it was time to leave.

The club will be holding a press conference at 5.30pm - and Holloway is expected to be in attendance.

Neil Warnock and Tony Pulis are the early favourites to take over as the club fight to survive in England's top tier.

Palace's only victory was against bottom side Sunderland in August.

But a 4-1 defeat at home to Fulham on Monday night could be the final straw as the London side languish in 19th place.

I think the gutless surrender at home against a poor Fulham was the final straw.

He did say something funny afterwards though so must have been hard to sack him.
