I didn't boo him, mainly because I had a very tasty prawn sandwich in my mouth at the time.

However, this myth that booing someone makes them play worse is utter bollocks. If someone says you're shite at something it's human nature to try harder and prove them wrong - which is exactly what happened.

I honestly think the team would perform better if we booed them as soon as they came out of the tunnel. We've tried supporting them, where the fuck has that got us?

I respect everyone's opinion, even the boo_ers, these people probably pay thousands of pounds every season and are perfectly entitled to express their displeasure, but I don't think you should be telling supporters to fuck off to Old Trafford, or calling them Tossers just because you don't approve!!!!!!!

At least he cleared the first defender which is something Eagles fails to do at free kicks and corners.

To be fair to Knight, Lonergan was at fault for the second goal.

He came charging out despite Knight pointing for him to stay back ready to receive the back-pass.

Natasha this is you at your best.
I don't agree wholeheartedly. I want the fans to be fair at all times. Sometimes that means supporting a player that's cocked up but is giving 100%. Sometimes it means giving stick to players that simply wouldn't otherwise give a shit.

You can't always rely on a manager to give players the kick up the arse they need. This idea that it's wrong for fans to put players under any pressure whatsoever is nonsense.

I think the "fairness" bit is right - as opposed to just giving them stick from the off as Natasha is proposing. Fans know this instinctively which is why Knight got applauded when he finally got his game together.

Natasha is right in saying that Knight's game improved after he was booed, but where's the evidence to say that his improvement was a result of the booing? Well perhaps there is some...

If (as I recall) Knight was booed after the first goal it tends to support the idea that booing doesn't work - as he did it again. If on the other hand he was only booed after the second, it would tend to support the booing theory.

Not a very empirical test, as I'm pretty sure our Zat was well aware of his errors, but it's a straw to clutch at.

It was after the second.

Going off on a tangent, I hate it when something like this happens and everybody goes "our fans are a disgrace, gotta be the worst out there."

Do people seriously think this kinda thing doesn't happen at Blackburn, Boro, West Brom, Wolves, Liverpool, Chelsea, Bury, you name it...?

Booing is counter productive, when do you ever hear pundits saying the atmosphere is electric, the crowds the 12th man , The crowds worth a point etc based on fucking booing.

Its not just about Zat Knights performance, it affects the other 10 players. Do you think there craving for the ball when the idiots eating a pie are booing every move.

Look up the meaning of fan, if it says to Boo the players then that's it i'm off.

Zat knight love inn (bring pyjamas)tell tales off if Knight had not started a match this season we could be well pushing for the play offs.I buy a season ticket every year, last year went to 15 away matches. One memorable day our sat nav took us 2 hours to get out of London, then it was only cos we followed M1 North sign v Charlton that one Ipswich,Peterborough.I hoped this season would be better new fresh start till I seen Knight ( captain). So hopefully a decent start 1-1 then unlucky v Reading 1-0 up n Medo smashes the bar goalie well beat.1-1 again.Went to Forest the ball played to the chosen one passes it straight to a Forest player who passes to Mackie 1-0 52 seconds. We got hammered and my trips away were over while that stump lead the team.ive since been to Wigan but the seasons over Dawson should have been enough to tell DF what was needed a quality centre half to partner Mills.Roll on August.

Fans = fanatical

If a fan thinks that something is not right then a fan is entitled to show that - it shows FANATICAL passion!

i agree just because we are fans doesn't mean we have so sit and be happy with the dross we are offered in almost every home game. I didn't agree with the booing of Knight during the game but fans need some way of showing their displeasure after the final whistle

To be fair to Lonergan - the second goal was also Knights fault. For several reasons.

A. This idea that Knight pointed to where he was going to put it is rubbish. He always does that point thing. He thinks it's a decoy. He also did the point thing on the first goal before he flicked it up over his head.

B. Lonergan pointed where he wanted it. To his right, on his right foot and away from he goal.

C. Even if Lonergan should not have come out so far, the fact that Knight then chose to hit it past him doesn't make it Lonergan's fault. If Reem or any half decent defender had seen Lonergan running out would you think they would have done what Knight did? No.

D. Defenders are always taught not to make a back pass directly on their own goal - especially under pressure. Either put it out of play (especially after his first cock up) or at leas send it wide of the goal in case the keeper misses it so it won't roll in, and also so that the striker can't run directly onto it and have an easy chance. That is the last place Knight should have put it, regardless of what Lonners was doing.

It doesn't matter how well Knight played during the rest of the match he is a permanent accident waiting to happen. He is usually worth a goal to the opposition. This time he made it two. He should never play for us again.

The top three worst decisions Coyle made (and god knows there are plenty to choose from) definitely includes extending Knight's contract.

Can't stand him. Always the first down the tunnel after a match and has always showed little class or skill...

...BUT...

...and it pains me to say it, but he's been more consistent since he was dropped. It's a real shame he gave them two easy goals because the rest of his performance was actually spot on. Stopped several chances and he's even become more physical recently which is a miracle in itself!

Still... he'll always be shit. And as for the booing - thank god there was a pocket of fans that starting the counter-cheers.
