Let's face it, we've all had enough of Clueless!

Billy Davies has reached the Championship play-offs five times in six attempts with three different clubs, and is currently unemployed.

He's perfect, is he not?

If not, who would be your number one choice?

You're both mocking me, but Billy Davies would be ideal.

I'm genuinely not. Davies' record at Championship level can't be overlooked. He also seems refreshingly honest, though not in a Megson way.

If we go down Coyle is the man to get us back up to the PL. True, it's been a poor season but I really feel he is building something here in terms of youth and pace. Give him a chance chaps!

You probably all know I would keep Coyle.

However, if we go down and his contract is not renewed/he resigns/is sacked, I would offer the job to Lee Clark or Sean Dyche.

They are good shouts, but the problem comes if they get us promoted - you are stuck with a manager with no Premier League experience.

As are nearly all newly promoted clubs. Them's the breaks. You give them half a season and get shot (ie QPR with Warnock, Newcastle with Hughton) or you respect their vision for the club and let them get on with it for the season in the PL they have earned the club.

We go down, Coyle leaves... we can't afford a proven PL manager.

I think experience can be overrated.

I'd rather be stuck with someone inexperienced than a proven failure.

Ron Atkinson?

Or how about that Bobby Robson statue from outside The Sports Direct Arena?

Ron Atkinson is a hero of mine, watch your tongue. Took Villa to 2nd spot in the Premier League.

Just how much of a chance do we have to give him? He has taken an established Premier club to the brink/actuality of relegation. At what point would you say enough is enough? Bottom half of the Championship by next Xmas?

I wouldn't be surprised if we start the first 15 matches in the Championship playing Kevin Davies up front, before he realises he's not even a match for Championship opposition anymore.

Xmiles, you're going to have to accept that being responsible for the club's performance and being to blame for the club's performance are two slightly different things and not everyone sees it the same way.

I would stick with Coyle if we go down because I don't think he is completely to blame him for our poor performances this season, he has had no money to spend, he has had terrible luck with injuries, he has had a bunch of overpaid has beens as the nucleus of his squad, and we knew he was an inexperienced manager when he was given the job.

In answer to your question though, I would say if we are in the bottom half of the Championship by next Christmas, I would probably sack him at that point. But I am convinced we won't been in the bottom half of the Championship at Christmas.

I am not sure I follow the semantic difference between "being responsible for the club's performance and being to blame for the club's performance are two slightly different things".

However we will have to see how things go next season. I would be happy to be proved wrong and to see us doing well but there is very little in Coyle's track record which gives me any confidence that this will be the case.

And I would be bloody ecstatic to see us avoid relegation despite my pessimism.

I am responsible for my own health and well being.

However, if I go to my local shop, and someone attacks me with a baseball bat because they are high on drugs, I'm still responsible for my own health and well being, but I'm not to blame for having serious injuries, all I did was go to the shop, taking due care and attention.

So that's an example of the semantic difference between responsible for and to blame for.

Hear hear with regards to the rest of your post.

Brendan Rodgers had no prior experience managing in the Premier League but he's done pretty well in his first go at it. He studied at the feet of the master, but still.
