Nine British medical students and doctors are feared to have travelled to Syria to work in areas controlled by Islamic State militants.

The group, all in their late teens or early 20s, had been studying medicine in Sudan.

The Observer newspaper reported that the students' parents believed they were in Tel Abyad and wanted to work with IS, but they were almost certain they did not plan to take up arms.

The medics are said to have been born in England but went to Sudan to study and experience "a more Islamic culture".

To me this is the root cause of the problem - they 'want' to be 'English' but don't want to be 'English' like the rest of us are!

They won't integrate (obviously their familys who sent them want it that way too).

Anyway hope they are good at sewing heads back on.

They treat women like shit and think nothing of it. Kabul must be a boil on the backside of the World. It needs lancing.

Thats because God told them women are slaves.

bit of a strange thing for a loving God to say honestly.

So you don't believe in God but believe God told them women are slaves?

No, thats what they believe.

otherwise they wouldn't act the way they do.

With or without religion, good people can behave well and bad people can do evil; but for good people to do evil — that takes religion. - Steven Weinberg.

How very true!

Bernard Hogan Howe must feel like a right cnut having been ordered to issue a grovelling apology by the powers that be, when he probably knew full well that the family were culpable.
Could you ever imagine the Yanks issuing an apology in similar circumstances?
It is only in multi-cultural Britain where you find this obnoxious level of Gerrymandering. Keith Vaz must take some of the blame as the Chairman of the Commons Select committee. Why were robust and vigorous checks not carried out on the parents before the Met were asked to make an apology?

Going on an anti American March doesn't make this guy a 'radical Islamist'. That claim is tantamount to shouting islamaphobia at anybody questioning Muslims.

I don't know the details but the Mail are too vague on this to be taken seriously.

He didn't seem to have much problem being at the forefront when the American flag was burnt, and the photographic evidence seems pretty convincing but then again you could be right and the whole story could just be a right wing propaganda plot designed to smear Muslims and give us simple folk the impression that they are all up to no good.

Not suggesting anybody's simple for believing it, could easily be true. I'm just saying shouldn't rush to judge.

The source being the Daily Mail doesn't help and I admit the evidence is flimsy but you do have to wonder what kind of input the family background has when a 15 year old girl decides to go to join a bunch of murderous religious nutters in Syria.

Definitely, and the family should definitely be under more scrutiny than the police. Keith Vaz is an idiot.

The article and the wording of it was just ridiculous though IMO. There's more to being a radical islamist than being anti-American, that sort of attitude will only get in the way of sensible debate.
