Joe Riley signs for Bury - Permanent Deal!

Joe Riley has joined League Two side Bury on a permanent deal.

The 23-year-old, a product of the club’s academy, made his senior debut for Wanderers in a League Cup tie against Macclesfield Town in August 2011 and turned out on eight further occasions for the Whites.

The full-back enjoyed a loan spell with Oxford United earlier this season where he played 28 times for the U’s, but has now completed a permanent move to the JD Stadium.

Bolton Wanderers would like to thank Joe for his contributions during his time with the club and wish him the best in his future endeavours.

That's a bit out of the blue

After he impressed so much on his debut it's a shame this. I hope there's a buy back clause in there just in case he really kicks on.

Agreed I didn't know he still played for us.

No fee involved just a sell on fee if Bury ever sell him on...........

Always had high hopes of Riley. Didn't really come off for the lad.

You would think the lack of right backs to pick from he would have been given at least a few games in the first team.

I feel that this is a wrong decision as well.

At the age of 23 he's making the step down from championship to league two. Blatantly not good enough

I was surprised at this.

I don't know why we bother having an academy to be honest.

I agree but we don't seem to be that successful with academy players making it to the first team really.

Difficult when you have lots of big clubs nearby though.  But we do get the odd one or two

It's a head scratcher to me 

Certainly worth a punt at right back for a few games to see if he could cut it.

So you're implying that he left because of personal issues with the manager as opposed his ability being under question?
