Time will tell.  While I thought he did a fair job picking some players like Dawson and Juke, I thought his on-field managing and his selections were abysmal. The fact that the players hated him and that he had lost the clubhouse was enough to get him canned. I dare say the change in our club since he left is evidence enough that Dougie was getting not getting the best out of any of the players.  The work ethic has increased and now it is a new era for us.  Will it be successful?  Again, time will tell.

Marc Iles, football writer at the Bolton News, gives the lowdown on what Forest fans can expect from new manager Dougie Freedman.

Bolton Wanderers fans had precious few kind words to say about Dougie Freedman when he left the club in October, but I think history will judge him differently.

This was a young manager plunged into a club heading in one direction, down, with an eye-watering wage bill and an owner who desperately needed to tighten the purse strings under the intense watching eye of Financial Fair Play.

That he managed to turn things round on the financial front and still keep the club in the Championship was something of an achievement.

But for one goal – you Forest fans will remember it, Anthony Knockaert? Bolton would have made the play-offs in his first half-season in charge.

After that, it was a huge downsizing operation and Freedman was charged to make some unpopular decisions. He did so trying to explain to supporters that this was not personal, but his popularity suffered.

Popular players like Martin Petrov and Kevin Davies were freed, while the lack of ready cash meant bargains like Craig Dawson, Danny Ings and Lukas Jutkiewicz went by the wayside.

It all culminated in a terrible start to this season, by which time he knew a fresh approach was needed. But the tough, brutal decisions he made at the time have given Bolton a chance to moving forward when the debts looked like crushing them for good.

Freedman is an intelligent, deep-thinker on football and his critics at Bolton would suggest his approach was over-complicated at times.

The football his team played was methodical, deliberate and just maybe suited more to a more technical group than he inherited.

I think he will learn from what went wrong at Bolton and having inherited a very good squad of players at the City Ground, I expect him to be a success.

I can't disagree with much of what Iles has written about the positives. Would enjoy reading the negative side of the story more though.

That article written by Iles is typical of the man, what an absolute load of bollocks.

Freedman is the worst manager in my lifetime, an absolute twat of a man who put his fat ego before BWFC. He tinkered with the team every week regardless of form, played the most turgid defensive brand of football I have ever witnessed, and basically sucked the pleasure out of supporting BWFC.

Hang your head in shame Iles you tosser.

How are you going to react if he's a success with forest?

If only the Forest Chairmen had been a bit more patient he could have had Harry Redknapp today!

Nat's right:I can't think of any redeeming features and thought he would never manage again, but if there are people like Iles who are going to spin their own version of the Emperor's New Clothes for whatever reason, then those of us who are sane will just have to shrug our shoulders and Forest will just have to find out the truth in good time.........unless he has learnt some humility, of course.......

My mole had a chat to Dougie the other night.

Apparently Dougie was never even interviewed for the job, Forest just rang him up and asked him to be manager.

He also admitted he made mistakes at BWFC, his biggest one being he tried to run the whole club rather than just the first team which meant he put several noses out of joint. Splitting the Academy from the first team still haunts him.

True story.
