Surprised you're baffled by it LPP. Fact of the matter is Cravies cannot stay fit for long enough to be classed a first team player. Since he's been here we've had to sign at least one first team striker in each January window (Juke & ALF) to fill in for him.

Purely down to his injuries he's been a squad player for us, a role which Heskey should be able to fill. The interesting thing now will be who Lennon targets for the first team, can we afford ALF?

Mjallby heavily alludes to the fact that CD won't be getting a new offer in this article:

:agree:

I think Boggers is the most official source on this one at the moment lpp. Ive not seen or heard anything  either but it wouldn't surprise, nor disappoint me if it were true.

We signed Juke AFTER sending Cravies on loan to Preston following N'gog's sale to Swansea. He was fit then mate and did pretty well for them.

I guess I'm a bit baffled because given that we have so little money and he can score it was one those 'it ain't broke so don't fix it' situations for me. I agree he's had a lot of bad luck injury wise but right now he's fit and we have all summer to work out any little niggles he might be carrying. I'm not saying he's a world beater, just that we're too short of money and options to release someone who could well do a very good job in order to take a gamble on targets we might well not get. ALF would be a decent signing imo but I think we'll be priced out just like we were with Juke.

I guess what I'm baffled by is why get rid of Cravies unless we know we've got someone better. If that's the case then great but I haven't heard a peep to suggest it is.

I think you miss my point. I'm  not saying he's not good enough, I'm saying he is broke and can't be fixed. He's clearly susceptible to hamstring injuries, it's common in footballers particularly ones built like him

I do actually take your point mate but he's hardly the only BWFC player who's spent time on the table over the last few years is he? If we got rid of anyone who's been crocked for more than a month in the last four years or so I'd bet Lennon and Mjalby would have to register themselves as players.  Shocked

I understand what you're saying, but there's no point in keeping a player on the books who can't get fit. If you worked out how long he's been injured/lacking fitness for throughout his time with us I'd bet it's close to 50:50. Which is something we can't afford to carry anymore. As you say on another thread Neil's got no money to spend. So tough decisions have to be taken to create funds, for me this is one of them. I'd hope he now has a plan to replace him.

I agree. I just can't help wondering why so many of our players are getting such serious injuries so often. It's got beyond a joke now and something must be behind it, perhaps the training regime or in the treatment room. I don't know what it is but we've had too many injuries far too often and I think a thorough review of how we do things off the pitch is just as vital as who we keep and release.

As to Cravies, well, I wish him well if he has been released and hope it doesn't come back to haunt us. But in all honesty I suppose he's not some indispensable world class striker who we can't live without. I just hope he gets replaced with someone at least as good who doesn't wind up spending more time horizontal on the treatment table than he does on the training field and pitch. But with our clubs' awful luck in that regard over the last three or four years I'm not all that sanguine.

Just watched a bit of him on YouTube and he looks like a big target man type.

Nowt spectacular but presumably will deployed alongside Clough or Clayton to provide the knock downs.

Which again raises the question in my mind: Why are we bothering with Heskey?

Sanguine. Another new word learned. Cheers LPP.

Has anyone else heard of these words that are coming up or am I a bit thick?

Are you sure?

Positive

Would have liked him to be at the club but whatever goes, hope Lennon is doing the right thing!
Id assume its because uncle garty told him if he gets rid of all our 'higher' earners... he can spend.

Alas, Lennon has a lot to learn...

Lesson one... DO NOT believe anything that comes out of your fat twat of a bosses wrinkled little gob.

This has really incensed me, thought Lennon wanted to keep the better bits of the squad intact?

No mate, you're not thick at all. I had an English teacher who loved that word and it's been stuck in my head for about forty years. I guess I've become pretty sanguine about that fact over time. Smile

I'm surprised at this- I'd rather Craig Davies was on the pitch rather than Heskey. I wonder if its a personality clash or perhaps a wage issue
This is Bolton... its only going to be about 1 thing... money.

We are bothering with Heskey because our intention regarding clough and clayton will be to sell them at the earliest opportunity... watch.

Craig Davies would be the first name on the teamsheet if he could stay fit. When he has played he's been our best player. It's no coincidence that our best performances have come with him in the team (Wigan at home, Cardiff away instantly come to mind).

But he's injury prone, we need to move him on. Simple as that.
