Songs.

There's literally loads of 'em knocking about if you know where to look.

I reckon there's at least a few hundred, if not more.

So what's your favourite lyric (the words) of all time?

It may be something that you heard that spoke to your soul and moved you to tears.

It may be something clever that made you see things differently.

Or it may just be something that made you piss your sides laughing.

Mine's by (in my humble opinion) one of this nation's greatest ever wordsmiths, Nigel Blackwell esq.

"Who...?" I hear you all shout.

He's the man behind the criminally under appreciated Half Man Half Biscuit, a band I've followed for nearly thirty years.

The line is: "There's a man with a mullet going mad with a mallet in Millets!" and it comes from a song called National Shite Day.

Pure genius in my book.

What's yours?

Half Man Half Biscuit.
They take me back.
Only became aware of them because they were the favourite band of the England cricket all rounder,Derek Pringle.
Good stuff.
This thread needs some thought.

"A bird in the hand is worth more than a Bush."

Ice Cube - "A Bird In The Hand" from his Death Certificate LP.

Ice Cube brilliantly reworks the idiom, "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush," as a critique of then president George H.W. Bush. When the law doesn't work in your favour, and your back is against the wall, it's easy to justify drug dealing as a means of survival (a "bird" is slang for roughly 36 ounces of cocaine).

Fuckin' hell.

Do I get a swift relatively pain free death now instead of a long drawn out, painful one?

Dooms rhyme structure is incredible, literally no idea how he comes up with his lyrics. I could pick any song but deep fried friendz -

(FRIENDS)
Some come in the form of co-dependence
Alotta times only end up bein co-defendants
Ten bucks say they tell for a lower sentence
And leave you up under the jail, beggin for a penance

This is scaring me now. I'm going back to my thread to play some Neil Young. (with a little Brucie thrown in for good measure).
I'll come out when I think your medication has kicked in.

You can try and read my lyrics off of this paper before I lay 'em
But you won't take the sting out these words before I say 'em
Cause ain't no way I'ma let you stop me from causing mayhem
When I say I'ma do something I do it,
I don't give a damn what you think,
I'm doing this for me, so fuck the world
Feed it beans, it's gassed up, if it thinks it's stopping me
I'ma be what I set out to be, without a doubt undoubtedly
And all those who look down on me I'm tearing down your balcony
No ifs, ands or buts, don't try to ask him why or how can he
From "Infinite" down to the last "Relapse" album
He's still shitting, whether he's on salary paid hourly
Until he bows out or he shits his bowels out of him
Whichever comes first, for better or worse
He's married to the game, like a fuck you for Christmas
His gift is a curse, forget the Earth, he's got the urge
To pull his dick from the dirt, and fuck the whole universe
