Neil Lennon was happy with his side’s application, as Bolton posted a point at play-off chasing Brentford.
Wanderers twice came from behind to draw level in a pulsating game at Griffin Park – Adam Le Fondre and Mark Davies with the two goals.
And speaking after the game the manager said his side were unfortunate not to take all three points.
“It was an enjoyable game,” Lennon said. “It takes two teams to make a game like that, so I think you have to give Brentford credit for the way they approached it given their position in the league.
“Brentford’s style of play probably suits us a little. They play a very open style with a high line and that was something we thought we could use to our advantage.
“Over the piece, I felt that we had the better chances. Emile has a one on one in the first half and should score and Alfie has had one off the line after half time.
“We kept going and got our rewards in the end. It was a justified equaliser in the second half because we had the better of the chances
“We’re disappointed not to have won the game.
“When we’ve got the kinds of players that we have, there’s ability and pace in the side and we looked dangerous going forward.
“We’ve got a young side, with a lot of players coming through our academy. We’ve got to find the right blend now looking to next season.
After confirming that Matt Mills and Josh Vela missed out through injury, the manager also clarified the reasoning for Barry Bannan and Neil Danns’ absence from the matchday squad.
“We’ve dealt with that issue internally. We set standards at the club and whilst we don’t mind players going out and socialising, there’s a line that you simply can’t cross.
“The players have been disciplined and we’ll look at it next week.”
