Jermaine Beckford scored twice, including a memorable goal of the season contender from the halfway line, as Preston North End beat Chesterfield 3-0 to reach the League One Play-Off Final.
Having already given Simon Grayson’s side a 1-0 aggregate lead from the first leg, the 31-year-old volleyed them ahead on the day shortly before the break, turning well into the area after running onto Joe Garner’s flick-on.
Provider turned goalscorer just after the hour-mark as Garner doubled Preston’s lead from the penalty spot before Beckford put the tie to bed in the closing moments.
Turning his man well on the halfway line, the Jamaican international spotted goalkeeper Joe Murphy off his line before drilling an unstoppable 50-yard strike into the top corner to seal the victory.
Preston will now face either Sheffield United or Swindon Town in the League One Play-Off Final at Wembley, as they look to return to the Championship for the first time since 2011.
