The Rooney Rule is about to be introduced into English football and it basically means that every club looking for a new manager or coach must interview at least one black manager.
Is Racism within football really that bad that ethnic minority managers are not getting a chance or is it because they're either unproven as coaches, like any young up and coming coach, or a bit shit. Surely interviewing somebody just because they're black is just as demeaning as not getting the job because of the same reason.
Personally, I think clubs would appoint black managers if they were good enough, Chris Hughton being an example. Maybe they are not getting the top jobs because they are not good enough, eg John Barnes.
Seems to me it could be a waste of time anyway because even if they are interviewed as the 'token black guy' they don't actually have to give him the job anyway. If you're racist you're racist,no rule will ever change that, so I'm not sure how this will help at all tbh.
