A look back at April in a month which saw Adam Bogdan and Mark Davies both return after long-term injuries
SUMMARY
Returning to league action over Easter weekend following the March international break, Eidur Gudjohnsen continued his goalscoring form with Wanderers having scored on his return to the Iceland national side the previous week.
Heading home a last-minute equaliser against Blackpool to ensure the Whites started the month with a point, the veteran forward then volleyed home to open the scoring away at Cardiff City two days later, before Craig Davies’ brace clinched an emphatic 3-0 victory in a game which also saw Adam Bogdan return from injury to make his first league appearance since August.
A familiar face came back to haunt manager Neil Lennon when Bolton hosted-promotion-chasing Norwich City the following week.
Adam Le Fondre continued his fine goalscoring form for the Trotters to cancel out Graham Dorrans’ early opener, only for former Celtic striker Gary Hooper to fire home a late winner for the Canaries in stoppage-time.
Mark Davies made his long-awaited return from injury as a substitute against Charlton Athletic, before scoring a second-half equaliser in Wanderers’ next match away at Brentford as the Whites fought out back-to-back draws – Le Fondre taking his total to three goals from three games along the way.
However, Bolton ended the month in disappointing fashion as they suffered a 3-0 defeat against a Bournemouth side looking to clinch promotion to the Premier League, in their final away match of the season.
