Second half thought we played well mark Davies was excellent. Feeney was alright. For the most part prince and moxey were good. Danns worked hard. Should have scored a goal.

Oh and dervite is a twat.

Hard to imagine Madine recovering now. Not a popular signing to begin with and he's missed a few good chances now, or wasted them in pathetic fashion you might even say. The fans aren't gonna get behind him at all, in fact he's just gonna be the next Beckford in terms of popularity with the fans. Except I do think Beckford is a better player.

Beckford's record at every level just shits all over Madine's.

Obviously Bolton and Beckford were a bad fit in the end, but I don't think even the biggest Beckford hater could say we're better off with Madine up front.

Blackburn had big lads at the back, no use tossing the ball in high.

Use the little lads, Silva and Clough, play it on the grass and fucking run.

Report: Blackburn Rovers 0-0 Bolton

IN BRIEF

Wanderers and Blackburn played out a feisty 0-0 draw under the floodlights at Ewood Park on Friday evening.

Following a goalless first period of few clear cut chances, the second half sprung into life late on in the clash as Fode Koita saw an effort ruled out for offside, while Emile Heskey’s shot was cleared off the line with three minutes remaining.

There was still time for late drama as Dorian Dervite saw red for a second bookable offence late on, but the game ended all square.

TEAM NEWS

There was just the one change for Wanderers, with Liam Feeney taking the place of Tom Walker in the starting XI, while Mark Davies once again donned the armband in the absence of Darren Pratley.

On the opposition bench meanwhile, there was a place for former Bolton loanee Danny Guthrie following his recent move to the club.

FIRST HALF

The game started in a pacey fashion, with both teams showing their intent from the word go.

The hosts were to enjoy the first real opportunity of the game however just two minutes in, with Grant Hanley’s header from a Tommy Spurr free-kick into a crowded box narrowly clearing the crossbar.

The fierce derby factor of the game took only seven minutes to grab hold of the clash, with Dean Moxey brandished the first yellow card of the match for a challenge on Jordan Rhodes.

As time passed however, Wanderers appeared to be growing into the game a little more although Rovers were enjoying the more notable chances in front of goal with Ben Marshall seeing a shot from close range blocked by Prince.

Wanderers then had two penalty calls squandered in quick succession, firstly Zach Clough and then Davies being upended in the area, only for the referee to remain unmoved despite the cries of protestation from the Bolton players and fans.

The game was certainly opening up, with the Whites finding themselves further and further up the field, while a last ditch challenge from Dorian Dervite prevented Rhodes from collecting a downfield punt in the box.

It was certainly anybody’s game as the clock reached the half hour mark, with both goalkeepers having to be on their toes as Craig Conway’s ball across goal somehow eluded three Blackburn bodies in the 31st minute.

Just moments later, Rhodes saw his header from six yards narrowly clear the crossbar, while Wellington Silva’s free-kick into the area was cleared away at the death with a number of Bolton player lurking ready to pounce.

As the clock ran down to half time, it was Blackburn who were showing more intent with Danns forced to mop up on the edge of the box following a loss of possession deep into Bolton territory.

With just two minutes to go until the break, Wanderers countered with Danns finding himself in acres of space, but the midfielder’s strike drifted wide of the mark with David Raya untroubled.

As three minutes of added time were indicated, the visitors pressed with Feeney providing a ball into the box for Madine, but the striker’s header was off target as the half ended goalless.

SECOND HALF

Wanderers started with gusto, with Clough getting himself into a good position just outside the area before being dispossessed just as he was able to play the ball into the mix.

Blackburn were soon back on the counter though, with Conway seeing his shot deflected over the crossbar and a header fly narrowly over in quick succession.

Having withstood some pressure from the hosts, Bolton proceeded to inch their way upfield with Wellington seeing a shot from just outside the box clear Raya’s goalmouth by a matter of inches.

The hosts were visibly shaken as Wanderers enjoyed a spell of possession and attacks, with Feeney and Clough making inroads as they attempted to breach the Blackburn defence.

Tempers were flaring as the game progressed, with Davies being the latest name in the referee’s notebook for a last ditch challenge on substitute Fode Koita just after the hour mark.

The match continued in a similar vein, with a dangerous free-kick from the side of the penalty area being tipped over by Amos, with the resulting corner kick seeing Davies clear Spurr’s header off the line.

As the clash entered its last 20 minutes, Blackburn found their groove again with a succession of corners ensuring that Wanderers were on their guard.

The introduction of Emile Heskey with 13 minutes to go in place of Wellington stated the Whites’ intent inside the closing stages with an all-out attacking stance.

Time was running out for a winning goal, with both sides visibly not settling for a solitary point in the derby clash as it fell into an end-to-end encounter.

As the game entered its final minutes, Blackburn did put the ball in the back of the net through Koita only to see the flag deny them, while Wanderers had an effort cleared off the line by Heskey with a goal seemingly imminent.

With five minutes of added time indicated, both teams went all out for victory while Dervite saw red for a second bookable offence, but the game ended all square at the final whistle.

What striker is ever a good fit with Bolton. Apart from Ricketts.

Yeah, his "wandering around in the middle of the park looking fucking clueless and wondering what he's supposed to be doing" act is unsurpassed.

Can't remember Madine winning any aerial battles tonight. So if he can't shoot or score and can't play the target man then get him off! Would've been better to play Vela as an extra midfielder than the old lump it forward technique. I don't understand Danns and Fenney making the first IX either. They are both utter shit too!

He won loads of headers. Watch it again.

And I'm not suggesting he's brilliant. He just works harder than beckford did. Still haven't seen him enough to really judge him.

And as for the official match review.......

The first line describes it as a "feisty draw".

"Feisty" must have recently undergone the same type of reinvention that the word "literally" recently enjoyed then, because my previous understanding of it is clearly wrong.

Here's the old one:

Feisty: (Adverb) Lively, determined and courageous.

And now the new one:

Feisty: (Still an adverb) Feckless, devoid of any discernible ability on display, waste of everybody's time, not worth paying to watch and generally shit.

Defensive headers from opposition corners don't count.

He's fucking useless.

I predicted this when we signed the useless, ex-con fuckwit.

We've got him because no fucker else wants him.

And as a direct result he's cheap.

Very cheap.

ie, almost fucking free.

And there's another very good reason for that.

As was demonstrated earlier tonight.

My wife is a 45 year old woman who hates football, isn't particularly mobile and has never played the game in her life.

But I'd still back her to bag more goals than that prick this season.

All of which I could possibly live with if we didn't have to listen to idiots telling us that he's a "decent striker" who "will come good, given a chance".

He's shite - We know it, Lennon knows it and Gartside doesn't fucking care.

He's not tall enough or have the aerial presence to be world class but Prince has all the skills and positional sense to do really well and he looked good tonight as did Moxey. No confidence in Wilson so the sooner Pisano is up to speed the better and Dervite was just stupid to get sent off. Derik is a worry if he's back in time for the next game but generally speaking we have the makings of a reasonable - if short - defence, as Duffy showed tonight.
Amos was good enough too.
And that is where I start to run out of positives because despite the obvious effort we weren't quick enough, accurate enough, smart enough or sharp enough to dismantle any defence. On the few occasions an opportunity appeared the execution wasn't good enough and was easily dealt with.
The fans were great, outsinging Rovers for the most part, and although the team were up for it they just couldn't create enough chances to deserve to win the game.
Neil's going to have to get more out of them if we are going to get out of trouble.

Initial opinion .....  first half was a master class in hoof ball.  Our entire attacking approach was lump the ball up to Madine....even the goalie just lumped it.  No attempt to play from the back.
Second half was a bit better but overall we saw two poor teams tonight.....both will be near the bottom come end of season IMO.
I thought we would come out and win this one but wrong again Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

But is he capable?

Beyond kicking the obligatory water bottle and hurling abuse at his payers, I mean?

He's obviously got a tough job having to try and get the likes of Gary Useless to perform, but I'm not seeing anything that inspires me more than what we had last term when he was blaming our poor performances on the surfeit of midfielders that we had.

It's a mess and it's far from all being Lennon's fault but given his supposed pedigree, I'm expecting more from him.
