I bet he knows all the words to The Internationale though.

although i'm glad he got elected it won't last long the right wing press will be on his case and he'll be forced out within a year. Then Burnham will be elected and its back to Tory lite

Why should he sing it, he wants the monarchy out really - and perhaps rightly so.

Had he sung it they'd have called him a hypocrite. They'll go after his dress sense next.
Pretty typical of our press, without doubt the worst in Europe.

What a terrible first speech. Same old rhetoric that millipede and Jim Murphy peddled. "Tax cuts for their friends and foodbanks."

Corbyn is being, and will be, pilloried in the press for doing, or not doing, things which can be blown up into huge issues. Were he to have conformed, he would be pilloried for hypocrisy. He is in a complete no win position, and it will be very interesting to see how it plays out. I, for one, applaud him standing by his principles. But with the press focussing on the person, and using fairly despicable methods for so doing, there is a huge policy area other parties can expand into.

PMQ's will be interesting today, let's see if Cameron will actually answer a question.

He answers questions as often as Madine scores.

At least we're sure to get some shit-house, scripted 'banter' from Cameron which the likes of Osborne and IDS will have an orgasm over.

But Corbyn is a "fresh" leader with "fresh" "radical" ideas.
Sorry but I could barely tell the difference between his speech and the crap peddled by ed and Jim.
Though he managed to make ed look like a good orator which is hard to do.

His ideas have been pretty widely publicised, and he's about as different from the political mainstream as possible.
I don't think anybody can seriously argue that.

His first PMQT today - anybody else hear it?
Have to say his appeal for a "grown up" dialogue seemed to work - for now at least. Far less of the usual screeching and wailing than usual.
Although the content was predictable with Cameron focussing on suggesting that without a strong economy none of JC's proposals would be doable and people would be worse off, whilst JC was implying that the economy won't be affected as he's about "redistribution" rather than increasing the social budget.
I think we're going to hear a lot of that over the next year or two.

They took it very easy - both sides. But it was good to see Corbyn's effect already in making the PM actually take the questions seriously. I think he's far more worried by Corbyn and the nature of the party he faces now than he lets on, he's going to be forced to answer moral questions for everything he does now.

Labour MPs were asking straightforward questions whereas the Tories/DUP were much more polished and scripted to tee up Cameron so he could have an easy dig at Corbyn. For example the party spin doctors got the young MP from Corby to ask a question (his first ever) just so Cameron could make a Corby/Corbyn joke. But for the most part they asked questions relating to their own policies so Cameron could say "we're already doing it" without anyone being able to question him about it (such is the format). DUP guy was wheeled in to condemn terrorism obviously.
Labour/SNP/UKIP etc weren't scripted and their spin doctors - if they have any - were piss poor and really came across as amateurs fighting the heavyweight political machine so it was evident that Corbyn et al have a lot to learn if they are going to play the game of bullshit politics.
Issue is that Corbyn doesn't want to play politics and media soundbites - he wants a "grown up dialogue". And it's going to be interesting to see if he can survive without playing the game the media want because people fall for soundbites as the title of this thread suggests.
And he needs a costed economic policy/manifesto quick because until he has one, everything he suggests will be branded "unaffordable" and nothing he says will carry any weight.

John McConnell's just fucked up on Question Time by trying to say that he spoke to JC (He's not a naughty boy, he is The Messiah) about not singing the national anthem after it all kicked off yesterday and the explanation was that "it was a very emotional moment and he got carried away thinking about his ARP warden parents' role in the war" and he basically forgot to sing it.
I mean, come on..........
Nobody wants to see Corbyn succeed more than me, but if they got together and decided that that was the best way to try and explain / defuse the situation they need a swift kick in the nads.
Given the obvious media bias against him and the fact that the majority of Labour MP's are all New Improved Labour remnants of Blair's time in office who couldn't spell socialism if you gave them a dictionary, it's going to be hard enough to establish him as a serious player without trying to pull off amateur hour stunts like that.
There are plenty of us backing you Jeremy - don't fuck it up by doing stuff like that.
I'm not asking you to sell your soul and become like the rest of them but ffs, employ a spin doctor and raise your game above the level of the Sixth Form Common Room.
There's a real opportunity here to change things - don't fuck it up by playing into the enemy's hands with crass, stupid mistakes.

Corbyn's apparent naivety is also a big part of his appeal, so he must retain that but he really does need a political strategist to clue him up on what to expect and how to be effective - once the Cabinet have nailed down the costed manifesto.
