"Many will now question Hodgsons decision to leave out Stewart Downing, the much maligned Liverpool winger would surely have offered more threat than an unexperienced, though promising player, who looked woefully out his depth. With the tournament still in it's infancy, fans will already be questioning whether Roy Hodgson is still "the man" for the job"

I was just about to post something very similar, Malcolm. He still can't finish his dinner.

You'll still find Bolton fans who say we missed him last season.
The fat useless bastard.

I'd rather have had him up front last season than Ngog or Davies.

Yes I read just recently someone write that we went down because we never replaced him. He was awful, his shooting always was pathetic.
Although Ukraine celebrated at the end as if they had just won the whole tournament. It was only Sweden for god's sake.

Do you know what is lacking in this Euros? A programme like Fantasy Football every evening after the matches with Badiel and Skinner. I know they may not be everyone's cup of tea but those programmes on an evening really made you feel like it the tournament was exciting.
Lets face it, todays two matches - 4 countries who no one gives a shit about. At least if there was some fun after show programme it may have got me in the spirit of the tournament.

I agree. The the whole thing has been a bit lacklustre for me so far. The quarter finals will hopefully be more interesting.

Fantasy Football was great. I also enjoyed Under The Moon.
Lisa Rogers was a studio runner before she got her job presenting on there by sending her CV in with a note saying "I can do exactly the same job Tim does now, but I also have a huge pair of tits."

Yes the Euros IMO has been just drab so far, so little atmosphere and excitement due to the location where it is being held.
When I think of Euro 96 and World Cup 2006 in Germany, there was a magical atmosphere, fans from all the participating countries came and made it an amazing atmosphere. I remember seeing thousands of fans from all different countries watching games on giant screens in cities if they didn't have tickets. The thing that made those tournaments so great was the fans being involved and being there, giving it an electric atmosphere. Take the world cup in South Africa, it was awful and the reason why was because so few fans travelled there due to the dangers of the country and lack of interest in the country.
Greece today only had 3000 fans there. England have sold the fewest tickets ever for a major tournament. The Holland v Denmark game was dead, so many empty seats.
They need to have these tournaments in countries where fans will and want to go.

4 minutes added time. Whistle blows on 93.30. What's that all about?

It was 3mins but the BBC made a fuck up and put up 4mins.
That is the poorest Holland side I have seen in a long time, how they managed to reach a world cup final i will never know.

???. Van Persie, Robben, Sneijder, Van Bommel, Stekelenberg, De Jong, Van Der Vaart, Kuyt etc etc. With those players they should have done a lot better.

Sorry RT I meant in terms of performance, they looked very casual when in their play last night even when they got a goal back.
Aparantly their coach was given the vote of confidence before the tournament maybe that has something to do with it.

I agree with you Aaron. The dutch have had quite a few chances in both games and with players of that quality they shouldn't be in this position after two games. I didn't see the game but I heard Robben had a strop when he was substituted.
