Neil Lennon has spoken of his frustration at the loan window closing last week with no business being done at Wanderers.
The Whites boss was told a few weeks ago that no money would be made available for signings as the club continue to talk with new owners.
That meant deals for Wolves winger Rajiv van la Parra and Liverpool’s Joao Teixeira were stopped in their tracks, while Lennon also revealed he had been speaking with Huddersfield Town about loaning striker James Vaughan.
With the window now closed until January Wanderers will have to find a winning formula from within over the next seven games, starting with Monday’s home game against Brentford.
“It is frustrating when you see (Rajiv) van la Parra got to Brighton and James Vaughan went to Birmingham as well on Thursday,” Lennon said of watching his targets sign for other clubs.
“There’s nothing I can do about that – it’s all ‘what ifs?’ “I have got to work with the players that we have.”
Lennon understandably cannot be too downbeat about the situation and is trying to keep his players motivated ahead of a crucial stretch of the season.
“I don’t think the players are struggling too much for confidence,” he said.
“The home form has been decent though we need to turn the draws into wins. We are capable of doing that.
“We need to speak to the players and say ‘Look, it’s all about us now’ “We need everyone with the foot to the floor and we need to give everyone a lift if we can.”
