We had it last year nordave. Boiler broke boxing day a didnt come out until new year for us. Cost us a fortune in electric heaters and fuel going to my mums for a shower. Its been on and off all year or boiler and like you we have been told the pipe isn't big enough for the new ones. Have a look at help link. You can pay monthly and Get a ten year warranty. You have to pay a deposit. Thinks its about 700 quid

I looked at Help Link when a family friend of mine got it and it seems bloody expensive. Boilers in general start at around £800 anyway.
I got an Ideal Vogue (their flagship model) with a 10 year warranty, granted it cost about £1100 and was oversized for my house but they do cheaper models that come with a 7 year warranty and my gas & plumber mate recommended it.
Their warranties include parts and labour so you could dump BG (around £20+ a month?) and put that saving to a better boiler and as long as it has a service once a year then you have the piece of mind.
If you have the money readily available etc then I feel this route is better IMO.

what a bummer, piggers. Hope it gets sorted for you. I got a new boiler about 7 years ago, and although the upfront cost was high, was surprised how bills went down. Having said that i'd only been in the house for a year and I think the existing boiler was about 30 years old...

I assume that the old boiler had a tank as well then that it warmed up every day?Chairmanda wrote:what a bummer, piggers. Hope it gets sorted for you. If that's the case then a combi boiler will be much cheaper due to it not needing to warm up a tank full of water (more than you generally use) and giving instant hot water when needed on opening up the tap.

Probably a dip in water pressure caused by an air bubble somewhere in the pipes.
If the pressure's too low, the pilot won't light but it might not show up on the panel as a full-blown fault.
I'm not a plumber, by the way, but this has happened to me in the past.
(This can apparently happen if you've not had your heating on much and you suddenly start banging it on in Winter, I was told.)
