Star Wars

Right it's time for some honesty. I've never seen any of the Star Wars films- none of them!! There's a huge amount of hype about the latest one and its as interesting to me as toothache.
My brother in law has got DVDs of all of the older ones and keeps on offering to lend them to me.
Are they as good as they are cracked up to be. Or would it simply be  a waste of my time watching them?
Anybody making big plans to see the latest one?
