My uncle had a huge airedale terrier called Casper named after the Burnley striker and he's been a season ticket holder for almost fifty years now. I suppose that's why I never managed to hate Burnley the way some so-called Trotters fans did in the seventies and eighties because some of my fondest memories are of going to Turf Moor with my uncle and dad when I was a boy. It was one of the few occasions when it was just "the boys" and we could leave my mum and sisters at home or out shopping. I still remember Uncle David telling me very firmly NOT to sing any of the chants I heard when Burnley faced off against Blackburn in front of mum because I should value my head's placement on my shoulders more than that and besides, she'd kill him and dad for allowing me to hear them.

Chris Casper's a nice bloke. (Frank's lad.)
I used to know him when I lived in Padiham in the early 90's because he went to school with a bloke I worked with.
He was in the Class of 92 and was rated by Fergie as a future England CB and captain.
But then he did his knee and it all went to shit.
Shame.

I've always said to the younger members of the family over the years, what you see and hear on the the footy is pantomime stuff and shouldn't be repeated in real life.
