Bolton Wanderers chairman Ken Anderson has issued the below message following confirmation of the club’s relegation from the Sky Bet Championship.

It’s now time to look forward, not back. Whilst this continues to be an extremely challenging and difficult time for us all, it is imperative that we stick together and believe that we will come out the other side a better and stronger football club.

Bolton Wanderers have a fantastic history and a loyal fanbase. We very much have to look to put any past differences behind us, embrace everything that we have going for us and move forward together.

I understand that words can only mean so much at this moment in time and that we, the new board, will ultimately be judged on our actions. We’re not shying away from that fact and we accept that there are going to be a lot of difficult decisions to make, both on and off the pitch, as we prepare for life in the third tier.

One of the most important decisions surrounds that of the club’s manager. That is something that is certainly high on our agenda and I personally have already had a high level of applicants for the job. We have had over 50 applications, which shows just in how much high regard our club is held. That list has been whittled down to single figures and our process of interviewing the candidates is already well underway.

We want to hit the ground running next season, which is why we are getting these building blocks in place. We want to roll our sleeves up and be positive right from the off, play an attractive style of football and really take the game to our opponents.

We’re working tirelessly to try and get the transfer embargo lifted - that is obviously paramount in our planning. We also have a number of key relationships and agreements in place with teams in the top flight with an eye on what we can possibly do in the loan market.

Whilst some of our work has to remain confidential, throughout this process we will do our utmost to be open and communicate our plans going forward. Our supporters and staff will always be the lifeblood of the club, regardless of what division we are playing in.

This is a fresh start for us all. We’ve been working on this plan for some time - we're now in the process of putting it into action.

There is a lot of hard work ahead and we have to be on this journey together.

Thank you for your support.

Ken Anderson.

People please note: OVER 50 APPLICATIONS.

We are still a big club that people want to manage. The haters should hate elsewhere.

Some good soundbites coming from him, but as he states, "words are cheap at this stage" we can only hope his ambitions bear fruit.

Tinned Toms - You know it makes sense!

Really positive and encouraging from Ken Anderson and like Martin said, we can only hope his ambitions bear fruit. People can be negative all they want but personally, that's exactly the kind of thing I wanted to hear. Very curious as to who the single figure list of applicants are because it sounds like they want the new manager to play attacking football and any applicant will have to promise to deliver it before being given the job. It's good they realise that's the kind of football that will get bums on seats.

Well I know that at least seven of them are mine. When Lennon got bumped friends and rellies went into overdrive  and made multiple applications on my behalf which was slightly jumping the gun as I haven't decided whether or not to take the job yet.

My mate's cleaner has a few applications in as well but I think it'll be too much for her seeing as she's just taken on a elderly lady in Dobble.

Still, she's a decent worker who can spot shit a mile away so it's reassuring to know that the quality of applicants is right up there.

all sounds encouraging and hopefully we can get a new manager in as soon as possible to give them time to plan for next season

It just goes to show what a bit of communication from the owners can do, PG and Saint Eddie didn't have a clue on that score

The X Factor receives tens of thousands of applications every year.

This does not mean that they're any good.

I did as phone interview with Ken myself.... a snippet of the conversation follows:

Ken: What are your plans for the club?
TA: I want to make the club great again.
Ken: How will you do it?
TA: I'll invest some money in new players who will be scouted from all over.
Ken: We are skint
TA: So how will a new manager be able to do anything.
Ken: who give a fook...this is just a tax scam.
TA: Should I send in the next candidate
Ken: Yes.....who is it
TA: a bloke name Mugson....he say he has connections with the club.
Ken: If he's cheap tell him he has the job.

That's all I remember for now.

Plenty of Southend fans on social media saying they will be glad to see the back of Phil Brown and the negative football he's had them playing. So that should be interesting then as it seems like he is a shoe-in for the job at the moment.
