The Australian style points system he lauds is well overdue here, every program on refugees and migrants we are the country most of them are aiming for, that can't be right we have to be less attractive to the deadwood than we currently are.

Australia the country which takes more immigrants per head than we do?

And the deadwood you describe make a net contribution to our economy.
Check who the Australians allow in compared with who we let in, better still try emigrating there and you'll see that they only allow people in that can add value and skills.
I probably need to be more selective in my comments but when I'm referring to the deadwood I'm not referring to the people who contribute, but the points system would help to police that. But however rose tinted your specs are we have attracted a large amount of deadwood along with the contributers and the reason they all want to head here is because we are a soft touch - that is what I want to change.
If the UK is a soft touch it has nothing to do with being in the EU. I live in Germany and you can not come here from any other EU Country and start claiming benefits. You have to have paid in first. Besides that, more than half of the things that people whinge about regarding what the EU "force" the UK to do actually came from requests from our own Government. Start looking forward to more zero hour contracts, hire and fire USA style job mentality, and increased costs on every single item you import from the EU. Luckily, I only drink German Beer, so I will be okay over here  Very Happy

We already have an Australian style points system (although they have 7 different point systems as each State have their own requirements) - for non-EU citizens and lets not forget that the largest percentage of migrants don't actually come from the EU but from non-EU countries - about 60% of all migrants are non EU.

So either our points system is not working or we have a high calibre for migrant worker in the UK contributing to the national economy!

Some of the older posters will remember the days before Ted Heath took us into the EEC. Back then petrol was paid for per gallon and folk used to moan if a penny was put on the price of petrol. Once we joined up we had to buy and sell our petrol by the litre and nowadays it's a bloody lottery as to how much we pay.

I was talking to a retired senior  traffic copper today who  told me that ACPO are currently looking at falling in line with EU legislation in relation to speeding motorists and there is a strong possibility that UK speed cameras will be calibrated in kilometres instead of miles.

The current guidelines are roughly set at 3 mph over the maximum speed limit to allow a bit of leeway and give and take but if they change to kilometres a lot more motorists will fall foul and will end up with a speeding fine. All speeding fines go into central funds which are then redistributed by local government. In other words, another form of stealth tax.

My mate went on one of these speeding courses, (he was doing 35 in a 30 area) and he was told that speed cameras are now being put into cats eyes ! Somebody said they already have them in Devon. Also, they are considering placing average speed cameras permanently in cities, (I think Manchester was mentioned). Dumbing down everything will bring problems of its own I reckon.

Well folks ...tomorrow is the big day. If the Nuts poll is anything to go by then it's going to be a close run thing. Having weighed up all the options and the pro and cons, I have decided to join the Brexit campaign and vote to leave. It's about time we started to govern ourselves once again and as I see it a Federal Europe is a failed experiment which simply doesn't work.

The worlds 5th largest economy has to take orders from a tiny "superstate" in all but name.

This behometh silently marches on with every Treaty it endorses. The U.K. Is a bystander and has to swallow everything this monster shoves down our throats.

It makes me laugh when all these pro EU voters say that Cameron has brought back real change for the UK with that shitty little deal he negotiated (which still has to be ratified by the other member states).

The EU is not a dynamic organisation, more a bureaucratic swamp that reacts and turns as quick as the Titanic.

The country will vote to remain tomorrow, mainly because the Southerners who are unaffected by many of the EU's policies, are oblivious to what is happening elsewhere.

Vote remain and sit back and enjoy the continuing disappearance of a once proud town called Bolton, and others like it.

Does it never occur to Brexit fans to look at who is leading the Brexit campaign? Farage, Gove, Boris, The Sun, The Daily Mail and assorted rich tax dodging toffs. So you think these people are right and have your interests at heart? Really?

Course they do. All those are multi millionaires including the paper owner. They've not got where they are by shitting on folk! They're nice people who'd readily piss on you if you were on fire.

I actually think Gove has come across quite well throughout the whole campaign. Tax dodging isn't something that is exclusive to the Tories either.

5/2 with sky bet that the vote will be to leave...1/3 that we remain

Strangely enough the pollsters were predicting 54% to remain and 46% to leave but virtually everyone I have spoken to on the subject over the last few weeks have indicated they wish to leave. I'm really not sure if it's just a north west regional thing tbh.

More likely the Brexit team don't want him on in case it makes some people realise just who they are supporting.
