Of interest to Nick Fazer, went to see Neil Young last night, don't know if you managed to catch him? He went off on one of his "heavy" jams fourth song in, too much for some I suspect but that's "Uncle" Neil, then managed to visually finish the song in spectacular fashion!
He managed to delve into some of his back catalogue nicely with some of my faves. Fortunately I got a ticket before the gig for Liverpool in August, now sold out, and look forward to more of the same.
Top Man!!

Unfortunately no. As you are well aware he has a massive back catalogue. He got asked by someone in the crowd for Cortez, the band had a bit of a mess, and away they went. Top stuff.

Some of his more famous ones he played.

Apart from After the Gold Rush which everyone had to buy by law I didn't really get into his solo stuff, much preferring Still's especially his first album which featured the likes of Clapton and Hendrix. But Young's whiny voice is OK even though he's a Fascist.
Anyone interested in modern prog rock? My son's album should be out in August (at least that's what he told me last night - but these things are seldom on time)

WL
I have been into CSNY as artists for 40+ years and NY has been the main man for me. However I do know that he is somewhat "odd", a mark itself of someone gifted, but I have to say he has recorded some dross.
Stills has never floated my boat solo, and lookin back has somewhat under acheived compared to Young. Ironic really considering early doors Stills accused Young of holding his career back!
How do you stand with Zimmers? Are you going to Blackpool? He's another that doesn't do it for me.

Bob Zimmerman? I like a lot of his stuff (much to the amusement of my mates) but he has written some classic songs and great albums like BOTT. Wouldn't go to see him these days.
Stills first solo album (SS) is the one I like. Cast of thousands on that one and some great tunes.

IIRC I think I have a Manassas album in the loft on vinyl.
My mate is a big Dylan fan but he won't go to see him now.
One of my comments I use to make him rise is nobody sings an NY song like NY and nobody sings a Dylan song like somebody else! That usually gets a two word response!!Very Happy

As an aside WL, after bein splatted on the ceilin Tuesday night, Bonnie Raitt brought me down nicely on Thursday. I didn't realise she was 63 until she said. She passed a comment about the old ones not lyin down and still playin, have to say most can still do the business but some don't know when to call it a day!

Really don't know why I keep my old vinyl as I never play it. Might do if I had a record player.
I think Dylan's voice is an acquired taste - a bit like anchovies which I still can't get my head round - still after his early wailings he did seem to get better for a while and sounded OK towards the end of the 70s. I pick the tunes carefully and most of the time I can't be arsed, but once every blue moon I'll whack a few selected tracks on if the mood takes me.
CSNY were a mixed bag too. Decent tunes but marred by sojourns into pop schmooze like Our House.

The first CSN album was a classic and reflected the upbeat time as was experienced then.
NY used them as a vehicle for himself as indeed he did with everyone. I think you and I have music as a big thing in our lives and long may it continue. However as time goes by collateral occurs, Ray Manzarek as a recent example.
One of my close friends just spent big money havin his turntable re conditioned and thinks nowt of spending 5 grand on a pair of speakers!

I will not be spending £5 grand on speakers in a hurry. Sounds like a hi-fi buff more than a music buff! I just like the tunes and sound quality can be as good from a mono jukebox for some things.
