Are English Football Fans Scum?

For the record though, UEFA's threat to kick England out seems a bit harsh.

From what I've seen, the Russians went on the offensive last night and the England fans didn't have anywhere to go.

If there's further trouble involving drunken English fans fighting with the Po Po outside bars, fair enough but if they're attacked inside the ground, there's not much they can do, is there?

There are clearly photos (and tv footage) of English fans causing trouble.

They kick Russia and England out, then France and AN Other country have a go, do they throw them out? Nay, lad. England would get the blame at a footie match between Eskimo and Maori. It's easier to blame us as for decades our governments haven't got the balls to stand up for us. They ban, quite rightly, 1500 from travelling, but then quake when they might have to try to get free movement restricted throughout Europe. Poland, Hungary, Germany all had "Ultras" but never seem to get punished. Weren't we banned from Euro competitions at one time? And HTF can the French use water cannon when Boris was told "No way?" Law for them, law for us.

Good point, there have already been people speaking out against it because of the racism endemic within their supporters. 
Would be interesting to see what happens, but as this is a UEFA event and the World Cup is FIFA, any sanction may not cross over.

Did you not travel to Madrid to watch Wanderers against Atletico? That really was frightening. Totally unprovoked attacks on us from the Ultras (and others)....and then from the police, as BW fans tried to escape through the crowds. I saw old men and women beaten as they fled.

 The incident made the national press and was investigated by the authorities after complaints from a Bolton MP....but nothing seemed to result. Several fans staying in our hotel limped to breakfast the next day, with weals all over their bodies.

 We were sitting opposite the attacks because we'd had our tickets stolen by pickpockets and had to be re-accommodated.....so we witnessed everything without being in the line of fire. We did not see any provocation, aggressive responses or retaliation. Official complaints were made to Spanish authorities but nothing arose, as far as I'm aware.

On the other hand, there is little doubt that all-day drinking causes rash and foul behaviour before and during games.

England fans where getting chased by Russians with knives and good knows what last night. Russians and French (marseille fans i beleive) would go in and cause a bit of trouble with the english, the english got tear gassed and then the ruskis and marseille fans where running in whilst the english was blind.  This is from a friend who is over there and isnt whiter than white when it comes to trouble but said the english are actuallu being SET UP to look worse when others are the ones causing it.
