The French invented Evian to sell to us gullible Brits. If you spell it backwards it becomes naive. Those crafty snail scoffers are not as daft as one or two might think.

From the BBC -
Angela Eagle looks set to launch a bid for the Labour leadership after Jeremy Corbyn rejected pleas to stand down.
The former shadow minister has been MP for Wallasey on Merseyside since 1992, but following her vote of no confidence in Corbyn and her shadow cabinet resignation, a petition has been launched by her constituents.
It states: "We wish Angela Eagle to resign as MP of Wallasey, as she does not represent our constituents views and our wishes. She should have supported Corbyn, not resigned. Keep Corbyn. Eagle Resign."
Paul Davis, vice chair of Eagle's constituency party shared his concerns about the wider leadership campaign, with Ritula Shah.

Thanks to Brexit, in less than a week France has overtaken Britain to replace us as the fifth largest economy in the world and we have no chance of recovering that ground in the foreseeable future.
Just goes to show that they don't come any more naive than the Brits.

I've felt for a long time that Corbyn is a disastrous leader and that he never should have been elected. I still believe the decision to open the vote to people who weren't even party members was a complete and utter cock up that left the system wide open to abuse. I applaud his courage and conviction, I respect him for the way he stands up for his honestly held beliefs but he's out of touch, out of date and frankly out of time. I hope he will stand down voluntarily and keep his dignity intact but right now it looks like he's going to be stubborn to the last and whether it's Eagle or someone else he's going to be ousted by the end of this year. I just hope for the sake of the party and the country that it doesn't come to that but even more than that I hope he doesn't let that happen for his own sake. He's a decent enough man, just in the wrong job at the wrong time.

The vote wasn't open to non-party members.

Actually mate it was. All you had to do was pay three quid and register as a "Labour Supporter" by a certain date and you got a vote. It wasn't a party membership. A lot of the grass roots members were deeply unhappy with it at the time and so were quite a few of our MP's.bwfc1874 wrote:The vote wasn't open to non-party members.

No but they opened the door to new unchecked members and I heard there was a flood of right wingers who joined simply to sabotage the Labour party by voting in the unelectable - and will continue to do so until somebody does something about it.
What could be done after they've been accepted is debatable though

There may have been a few who signed up to try and sabotage the election, many were chucked out and but there werent anywhere near enough to invalidate the huge majority Corbyn won.
I think he needs to go because it's clear the MPs refuse to accept his leadership. But although he looks very isolated make no mistake, he's still the memberships man and had huge grassroots backing. Why? Because he's still the only mainstream politician making a left wing case, until another comes up Corbyn remains the only viable option for left wing views.
