Rochdale boss Keith Hill believes Wanderers could be back in the Premier League “within the next five years.”
The Bolton-born coach welcomes the Whites to the Crown Oil Arena tonight hoping to build on a 3-2 win at Millwall last weekend.
Wanderers have wobbled a little in recent weeks, failing to win in their last six games in league and cup, but Hill believes the strength of their squad and management structure should see them upwardly mobile in the near future.
“With (Phil) Parkinson and Steve (Parkin), I think they have got a great management team,” he said. “They’ll have a very honest, balanced and level-headed approach to success in League One, and I am sure they will be successful.
“They have had a good start to the season, after recruiting and retaining well, and it wouldn’t surprise me if they were back in the Premier League within the next five years.”
Wanderers have come up against a number of opponents happy to sit in and defend since dropping down to League One – but Hill’s outlook is decidedly attacking.
The Dale boss insists his team will be going all out for three points.
“I don’t see why we shouldn’t,” he said. “The worst that can happen is that we lose a game trying to win but we shouldn’t fear losing.
“We have got to strive for success and we have got to go out there and take it to the opponent.”
