On clinching a hard-fought victory...
We’re very pleased. It’s a real test coming to Millwall, especially on a Tuesday night.
A test of the resolve and character of the group and I think we came through it with flying colours.
It was a great start for us. We probably took our foot off the gas for a short period after that, but we showed all the characteristics you need to win at Millwall.
I’m so pleased with the way the lads went about their business. We stood up to everything.
Winning football games is very tough. It takes on incredible effort from everybody. That’s what we saw tonight and that’s why we got the points.
On his side's positive start…
You’ve got to play well at Millwall and if you don’t stand strong as a team then you can get rolled over.
We couldn’t let that happen to us tonight and right from the off there was an intent about us.
On Sammy Ameobi's early goal…
You probably won’t see a better goal than Sammy’s across the country tonight. It was a magnificent finish.
On David Wheater's goal and overall performance…
I’m so pleased for big Dave to get the goal as well.
He’s gone very close on a number of occasions this season. He’s got on the end of so many set-plays and things haven’t quite gone his way but he’s stuck at it and it was a really great finish.
It was great technique to put it away and he keeps getting in there which is important. His all-round performances have deserved to get the headlines tonight, getting the goal.
On Mark Beevers' performance against his former side…
Mark Beevers just continued how he has been playing really. It’s always a test when you come back to a former club.
I told him before the game that their fans would boo him every time he got the ball, but he handled it really well and our fans gave him a great support as well.
On his side's strong defensive display…
The highlight for me was the way Wheats and Beevers defended. The whole back four was colossus.
On Tom Thorpe's injury…
The downside for us is Tom Thorpe. I thought it was a very bad tackle on the edge of the box and it looks like he’s damaged his ankle ligaments.
Thankfully we had Derik to come on and I thought he did very well.
And finally, on Wanderers' travelling fans…
I’m pleased for the travelling fans as well. It’s a long trip on Tuesday night and a lot of them won’t get back until the early hours.
I imagine many of them will be up working tomorrow too.
This is an intimidating type of ground and the Millwall fans appeal for every single decision, so I’d like to thank every single one of them for the support they gave us because it’s important.
