Bolton Wanderers earned a point away at Millwall in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Mark Beevers initially gave the Whites a lead in the first half, after powering his header past Jordan Archer.
However, Millwall got back into it late on to earn a share of the points at The Den.
When speaking to bwfc.co.uk after the game, manager Phil Parkinson covered the following topics…
His assessment of the game…
“I thought a point away from home was good.”
“I thought for a majority of the game, we were excellent.
“First half in particular, I was delighted with the way we played.
“We should have had a penalty before we scored and also, there keeper has pulled off an outstanding double save.
“We got a goal with a good finish from Mark, but second they pinned us a little bit.
“We couldn’t get hold of the ball and the quality of our play wasn’t good.
“That could be sometimes due to fatigue.
“Credit to Millwall as well, they came at us in the second period but we still had some good moments on the ball.
“Their keeper has made another great save from Lowey, who couldn’t have done much more than score today.
“All in all, the effort from the lads in the last two weeks showed today and everyone has played their part.”
On slightly being disappointed with just a point…
“When you go a goal up and get to the 82nd minute, you’re expecting to see it out.”
“The lad hit his shot and Paw has gone to block it and it’s gone through his legs.
“Obviously I am disappointed to not get three points but I think from where we have been, in terms of not being on the greatest of runs, the lads could’ve easily let their heads drop.
“They haven’t at all and I thought the performance was excellent today.”
On putting the recent run behind us…
“Without a doubt. We had to get something today and there was a physical edge about us.
“We needed to have that because Millwall are a physically strong team.
“They put you under pressure but we stood strong and I am genuinely proud of the performance.
On Mark Beevers scoring against his former club…
“I thought he was great today.”
“He cleared one off the line too which can’t be forgotten.
“He is a threat in the air and we could’ve had another.
“We need our defenders to threaten from set-pieces and it is good for him to have done that today.”
On defending well for the vast majority of the game…
“I thought the desire to block things and stop crosses and great.”
“It was top class and that is exactly what we are all about.
“But sometimes if you go to block a shot like Paw did, it can go through your legs and that’s what happened.
On the lads giving everything that had…
“The lads have given a lot today. Marc Wilson came into the midfield and I thought he was excellent.
“He hasn’t played in that role for quite a while and put in a great performance.”
