I quite like the theatre but never seem to manage to go there as often as I should but the other day I was in London with my daughter and took the opportunity to buy some reduced price show tickets from the famous 'tkts' booth in Leicester Square.

We ended up seeing the musical 'Jersey Boys' about the singer Franky Valli and the Four Seasons.

I'd heard good things about the show and wasn't disappointed, neither was my daughter who hadn't even been born when the Four Seasons were at their peak.

Now I know the music of the Four Seasons probably doesn't mean much to those the right side of forty but we enjoyed it and I've still got the songs in my head days later.

Does anyone else enjoy the theatre and if so what shows did you like.

Anybody been to see a show recently - if so what and where?

Also do you like Panto?

...oh yes you do!

Very Happy

I have just broke up with my girlfriend who always talked about this musical, I have a broken heart and I don't need reminders of her like this.

Thanks a bunch

Seems appropriate considering the context.

I went watching Chicago when I was in New York a few years back, bought tickets the same way as you from a booth. If you like the theatre I'd recommend it it was excellent.
When I was in my teens me and a friend took a couple of girls to the Exchange theatre to watch Topol in fiddler on the roof, we got smashed and thrown out for doing "if I was a rich man" up and down the aisles.
Needless to say my date that night didn't become the mother of my children.

i'm not a lover of musicals especially all the Lloyd Webber rubbish. I did see Les Miserables years ago and it bored me silly

I did go to see the Producers in Manchester with Peter Kay in it a few years ago and it was great. I do prefer shows like that and i would love to see Tommy as well.

Mrs Pig is taking the kids to Stockport Plaza to see Peter Pan with Nasty Nick from Eastenders in it and we are all going to see Horrible Histories Christmas show at the Lowry which should be good

First saw jersey Boys on Broadway as part of my 60th celebrations. Saw it again in London about 3 years later. Both shows were excellent, although the Americans were more into 'hootin & hollerin' than the UK one.
I have also seen the Kinks show, 'Sunny Afternoon', and I think it was even better, just, than Jersey boys. Thoroughly recommend it. With it being a smaller theatre, you are more involved, it seems.
Considering doing the Carol King one next. Possibly buy the tickets as a Christmas present for the missus and me  Very Happy

Mrs B did actually drag me to The Palace by the balls years ago to watch Les Miserables.

What a pile of cockwombling shite.

The only bit I can actually remember is some annoying kid standing on a barricade, warbling some song and waving a flag.

I wanted to throw things at the little bastard.

It's the one, only and last time I have ever or will ever "do musical theatre, dahling"....

It was shite - Expensive, boring, long-winded and I couldn't understand a bloody word they were shouting / singing.

I'd honestly rather go to the opera and that'd be a stretch - I still wouldn't be able to understand what was going on but at the least the music would be soothing.
