What colour should a Bolton keepers jersey be?

One thing (amongst many) that I've never really understood is whilst teams have the same shirt they all wear, that keepers seem to be able to choose what they like - as long as it is clearly distinctive to all the other players (and officials).

I've never known for certain if we had a first team keepers coloured shirt or if it was the keepers style choice to match his eyes or something.

If my memory doesn't play tricks on me I always thought keepers wore green - and that applied to both teams keepers on match day?

Hopkinson always played in green as far as I remember?

Except when he played for England who always played in yellow?

Charlie Wright and Barry Siddall are shown in green jerseys...

So, do we have an official 'team' coloured keepers jersey or can they play in whatever colour they want (as long as they stand out from the other players)?

And what colour should we adopt as ours if we don't officially have one?

I actually thought our keeper this season clashed a bit with the colour of the other team. Sorry can't remember which games.
Traditionally I always thought of keepers wearing green.

Don't think it matters as long as the refs can see that the guy leaping up and punching the ball away isn't the CB. They have enough trouble making the right decisions as it is.

IN point of fact guys there was a rule that said Keepers ALWAYS wore Green UNLESS it clashed with the outfield players or opposition kit until the Premier League began. At that time the rule was amended so the keeper could wear anything so long as it didn't clash with either team's outfield players or the match official's shirts. Until 1992 teams were specifically forbidden to wear black either as a home or away kit since the referee and linesmen wore it. Only teams who had black and white stripes were exempt at that time and the referee would then generally wear red or yellow shirt.

Thank you for the insight, funny the things we forget. I used to be a referee and pronounced should have known this..
