Wage issues have resurfaced at Bolton Wanderers after it emerged some staff will be paid their Christmas salary 24 hours late.
Non-playing employees were informed yesterday that some December payments may not reach accounts in time to pay standing orders and direct debits due today.
Ongoing uncertainty over ownership at the Macron continues to affect the club’s cashflow, with chairman Ken Anderson understood to have sanctioned a personal payment to cover the payroll.
A club spokesperson confirmed to The Bolton News: “Some members of staff may receive their wages a day late but they have all been notified and kept fully informed.”
Wanderers do not expect any further issues, and players are due to receive their salaries at the end of the month as normal.
Negotiations continue between Anderson, co-owner Dean Holdsworth and BluMarble Capital as he looks to assume full control of the club.
Anderson said last week he was “confident” a resolution would be found quickly and that the club had “moved on” after concerns over cashflow forced him to admit administration had been considered as a possible route.
Last month’s player salaries were also delayed slightly – with Anderson putting through a special payment which did not go through the regular BACS system and arrived in accounts a few hours after it normally would have.
Twelve months ago, under previous ownership, club staff were left guessing until the last moment in both December and January as to whether they would be paid on time.
