Reclining in the tub last night, as I do to relax most evenings after a hard day spent shouting at people for not doing their job properly, I was happily listening to the radio when some commercials came on.
One was for British Gas and their Hive home energy management system.
In a nutshell, if you pay them £9 a month on top of your normal bill, they will set you up with a system which allows you to control your domestic heating remotely.
And the way they sell it as a good idea is by flogging the notion that you need never come home to a cold house again.
Great!
But surely this is just wasting money?
How hard is it to bang the central heating and fire on when you return home after a hard day spent shouting at people (or falling down holes / scrubbing bedpans depending on if you're Bonce / Mr Pig respectively)...?
This is a massive waste of money and (to get serious for a second) it flies in the face of current thinking regarding minimizing the burning of fossil fuels unnecessarily.
I'm surprised the government allows them to promote a product which is so inherently environmentally unfriendly.
Am I overreacting as usual?
