Bolton Wanderers are delighted to confirm the arrival of striker Adam Armstrong on loan from Newcastle United until January.

The 20-year-old, who has been on the books of the Magpies since childhood, turned professional at St James’ Park three years ago and has made 21 first team appearances for the Premier League side.

During that time, he also enjoyed successful loan stints with both Coventry City and Barnsley, scoring 20 goals in 40 outings to be named in the 2015/16 Sky Bet League PFA Team of the Year with the former and netting six times in the Sky Bet Championship for the Tykes last season.

A seasoned England youth international, Armstrong has proven his worth in front of goal at every level from Under-16 to Under-20, winning the FIFA U20 World Cup with the latter earlier this summer, while he was also a UEFA European Under-17 Championships winner with the Young Lions back in 2014.

And following a successful summer with England Under-20s, the forward has now agreed terms with Wanderers on a loan deal which will see him play his football at Macron Stadium until the start of 2018.

Speaking to bwfc.co.uk after completing the move, Armstrong said: “It's a great feeling to be here. I'm really pleased to have the deal all sorted so quickly and I can't wait to get started."

Bolton manager Phil Parkinson added: “We are delighted to bring in Adam.

"He’s a good young player with great potential and we are looking forward to working with him.”

Most players that sign for us have something to prove because they're shite.

Let's see... bankrupt club... owners fighting... financial embargo by FA... no money to spend... wind up petitions filed which may or may not affect the club... and a favorite by the touts for the drop. I would expect Rooney to sign for us any day now!

Exactly. Considering our financial situation I am quite pleased with our signings so far.

Our signings have been poor - hardly a Championship game between them.

While a couple of players may step up, you just know it's going to be a massive failure and we'll be scrabbling around for loanees come January in a desperate bid to stay up.

Thank fuck I support Chorley.

Given our financial predicament what exactly did you expect?

Shit excuse. You don't have to have pots of money to buy a bit of experience.

I'd rather have a 35 year old Championship veteran than a 24 year old with "something to prove".

Parky has gone about this all wrong, he's signed a League 1 squad to play in the Championship. I'd rather have less players and more quality. Did he really need to sign Ameobi when we already have a decent right winger?

Bolton Wanderers complete loan for Newcastle United striker Adam Armstrong

WANDERERS have landed Newcastle United striker Adam Armstrong on loan until January.
The 20-year-old becomes the seventh new signing at the Macron this summer and will go straight into the mix to face Conference club Fylde tomorrow night.
Armstrong has played 21 times for the Magpies – 15 times in the Premier League, making his debut as a late substitute against Fulham in January, 2014, and starting his first game against Crystal Palace the following September.

He enjoyed a prolific loan spell at Coventry City in 2015/16, scoring 20 goals for the Sky Blues in League One, and after a short stint back at St James’ Park, went out to Barnsley last season.

Armstrong scored six goals at Oakwell in 21 starts, often played as a lone striker.
Sources in the North East suggest the youngster has been challenged to hit double figures in the Championship for the Whites and prove he can progress his career at his hometown club.
He has already sampled success with the England Under-20s this summer, making three appearances in Korea as the Three Lions lifted the World Cup and scoring in a group game against Argentina.
