Bolton Wanderers have completed the signing of striker Adam Le Fondre on loan until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old joins the club from Cardiff City, having spent six months with the Bluebirds after a summer move to South Wales from Reading.

Le Fondre started his career at local side Stockport County before later enjoying stints with Rochdale and Rotherham United, while he was a member of the Reading side that won promotion to the Premier League in 2012.

The forward will wear the number nine shirt for the duration of his stay at Macron Stadium, but will be unable to feature in next week’s FA Cup fourth round reply against Liverpool having featured for Cardiff earlier in the competition.

Wanderers now await international clearance from the FA in order for Le Fondre to be eligible to make his debut.

Manager delighted with Adam Le Fondre capture

Neil Lennon hopes Adam Le Fondre can keep up his impressive goal-scoring record during his loan spell at Bolton Wanderers.

Le Fondre, 28, penned a temporary deal at Macron Stadium for the remainder of the season, joining from fellow Sky Bet Championship side Cardiff City.

“He’s got a great goal scoring record at every level,” the manager said. “Even in the premier league he had 12 and 17 for a team that got relegated, that speaks volumes to me about his goal scoring ability.

“He’s the type of player we need - I need a box player. The amount of chances that we create and don’t convert, I think Adam will benefit from that.”

“Part of the attraction of coming here was to be around his family again.

“I think there was a bit of a disconnection when he was at Cardiff, so I think he will enjoy being back in the North West.

“Hopefully we’ll get the best out of him because he certainly has the ability to score goals.”

The club now require international clearance in order for Le Fondre to be eligible to make his first team debut.
