Wanderers have made an audacious bid to bring Chung-Yong Lee back to the Macron Stadium.

The South Korean star has been left in the cold at Crystal Palace since making the move to Selhurst Park in February 2015, starting just nine league games.

Frank de Boer has used him twice as a substitute since taking over as Eagles boss in the summer but that has not stopped Bolton making a cheeky request to loan him until January.

Chung-Yong was a massively popular player in his six seasons with the Whites, proving a hit in the Premier League under Gary Megson and Owen Coyle, scoring the winning goal against Birmingham City in the FA Cup quarter-final.

A badly broken leg meant he played just two league games in the year Wanderers were relegated from the top flight but he stuck around for another 18 months before moving to South London.

Now 29, it is understood the midfielder and his representatives need some convincing to drop down a division and aid Wanderers’ Championship fight but if the deal is successful it could rank as one of the biggest coups in recent years.

If nothing else, it shows a sign of Wanderers' intent as they look to strengthen the squad in the aftermath of Ken Anderson's complete takeover.

Phil Parkinson wants at least one more signing on deadline day and has also been strongly linked with a loan move for Cardiff City’s Craig Noone.

The former Brighton winger has made more than a century of appearances for the Bluebirds but has been told he can find another club by manager Neil Warnock.

He has yet to feature for Cardiff this season but with Parkinson looking for a player who could strengthen both flanks and give him more tactical flexibility after the international break, the 29-year-old fits the bill.

Another familiar face who may have been spotted around club grounds is Joey O’Brien. The Dubliner, who got his professional break under Sam Allardyce at Bolton, requested some fitness work at Lostock with highly-rated conditioner Nick Allamby.

The 31-year-old is being considered for a permanent deal at the current time.

Midfielder Chris Taylor has also been tagged for a loan move elsewhere and currently looks favourite to head out of the Macron.

This isn't happening according to Lee Anderson. Marc Iles has stated its because Chungy doesn't want to come here.

When is the last time Joey O'Brien played? He didn't play for anyone at all last season did he?

Bolton Wanderers unable to land South Korea star Chung-Yong Lee on loan from Crystal Palace

WANDERERS have not been able to tempt Chung-Yong Lee back to the club on loan.
The 29-year-old had been offered the chance of regular football in the Championship at Bolton, the club at which he made his name in England.
Chung-Yong and his representatives spoke to the Whites yesterday but have opted to stay and fight for a place at Selhurst Park.
A source close to the South Korea international told The Bolton News this afternoon he had “respectfully declined” a move back to the North West but that he wished Wanderers well in the season ahead.

Phil Parkinson is a big fan of Chung-Yong, who has 75 international caps for his country, but has now switched targets.
Cardiff City’s Craig Noone is the man most likely to sign on loan today but Wanderers are expected to try and negotiate extra space in their squad with the EFL following Ken Anderson’s takeover, which was completed yesterday.
Parkinson is currently restricted to 23 players with first team experience under terms of the transfer embargo

I said when Chungy went to Palace he wouldn't get a game ....still won't.

Although he can enjoy much more of a salary than we can pay while playing for Palace reserves.

Carry on Son.

He's an idiot.

He was a top player in the Prem for a short while but not anymore. He's right up against it tryna get a regular place in Palace's side, and he'd be first name on the teamsheet if he came back here.

Nevermind.
