JEM Karacan has announced he will be leaving Wanderers this summer after his contract expires.
The midfielder, who made 18 appearances for Bolton this season, confirmed the news on his official Twitter account.
Karacan scored against Peterborough United on the final day of last season to help secure promotion from League One and also wore the captain’s armband in the Carabao Cup victory against Sheffield Wednesday in August.
“Proud to have been a part of BWFC over the last 15 months,” he tweeted this evening. “It was great to have been involved in the club returning to the Championship and then staying in the division. Will miss being amongst such a great set of lads. Thanks to the fans and good luck for next season.”
Phil Parkinson picked up the former Reading man after an ill-fated spell in Turkey playing for Galatasaray and his inclusion in a vital victory against Fleetwood Town in March set Wanderers on their way to automatic promotion.
The energetic midfielder signed a one-year deal in the summer and started the first 10 league games of the campaign. But he was dropped after a 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa, with Bolton bottom of the table, and did not start another game until February 20, when he played a key role in the 1-0 win at home to Sunderland.
After starting the next two games, he again fell out of favour, playing just once more in a 3-0 loss at Derby County.
In total he played 20 times for Bolton and scored two goals.
