It's a fair point as Parky has said he's tried a different systems in the pre-season, so it depends entirely on which one he goes with plus it depends on the striker's abilities and whether or not Parky plays to his strengths. It's just that the kind of quality striker I had in mind wouldn't be a tank to lump the ball to so a different kind of service would be required hence changing the tactics to suit.

Unfortunately a striker with the kind of quality you seem to mean is probably beyond our means right now. That said we might be able to find a youngster from a Prem club to loan who's got the kind of skills you mentioned.

Right now I'd be quite happy with an old fashioned target man though, especially if he plays with ALF in a two man attack. It would seem most of our efforts have gone to strengthening the midfield so far so they should be able to provide some decent service this season and while I'm not saying we're going to win the league I'm quite happy with the defence which looks much more solid than last term. With luck that will allow the midfield to be more creative. We still need another keeper of course but right now I feel we have a squad that's certainly good enough to avoid the horrid start and nerve shredding final day we had last year. Of course it's still very early but I feel quietly confident we'll be mid table come next May.
