Ref Watch: Simon Hooper to oversee Saturday's derby clash with Wigan Athletic

Referee Simon Hooper will oversee the Whites weekend clash against local rivals Wigan Athletic in the Sky Bet Championship.

Entering into his 12th season as a top flight referee, Hooper has officiated 12 games so far this year, in which he has produced 38 yellow cards and a two red cards.

His last game was certianly one to remember, as he officiated the 5-5 draw between Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening.

When looking towards last season, Hooper produced 129 yellow cards in 42 games, branding six red cards in total.

The last time Hooper was in charge a Wanderers match was in November 2017, where he oversaw Wanderers 0-0 away draw against Preston North End in Sky Bet Championship.

In that fixture, Hooper booked five players in the form of Paul Huntington and Andy Boyle for the Lilywhites, along with Mark Beevers, Sammy Ameobi and Karl Henry for the Whites.

Edward Smart and Andrew Halliday will run the line for the fixture, with Darren Drysdale as fourth official.

I think not paying our players on time takes away the advantage we have over an extra days rest. Some of our players are unlikely to be giving 100% due to not getting paid.

You're right, some might not even play because they'll be busy queuing at the local food bank.

Thirteen Championship teams have conceded more goals than us so defensively we’re a top half club.
Tells the story right there.

We were out of the bottom 3 until Reading equalised on 90 +4.

Life's a bitch... with Reading equalising at the death.  We still have to win a match... something that doesn't look like it is coming soon.  Perhaps for the New Year?

You know what Parky will say?

"We have to take the positives from this game, the lads deserved more than one point today"

It was another poor performance after we scored, yes we should have had a pen, but it would have just papered over the cracks, it's another 2 points thrown away by piss poor in game management, but no matter what we'll still have Parkinson mismanaging us

I'm relieved we avoided defeat.I think if you are a Bolton fan losing at home to Bury or Wigan is as shit as a run of the mill December league match can get.
Their fans will consider it an opportunity missed, they won't often play a Bolton side as crap as this one at 2nd tier level.
