The Yanks couldn't do it, the Russians couldn't do it but the Chinese have made history by landing on the other side of the moon to collect data from the so far unexplored side.
Story here.

The Chang'e 4 spacecraft has already sent back the first pictures by bouncing them off a satellite.

Not sure if Pink Floyd provided the soundtrack or not.
