As an aside I was given two copies of that sodding Brexit book last Christmas. It wasn't funny.Cajunboy wrote:I think you are too!

Technically, yes. Realistically, not in my opinion. I think we’ll drop.

And everyone pulling away from us. We would need to win half of our matches or more to survive now.boltonbonce wrote:Bloody Millwall and Rotherham winning away.

If we can win by 10 or more that would be an extra benefit in GD! Surely need 3 this weekend!Sluffy wrote:We need to beat Wigan, that's for sure.

Last season we survived with 43 points but that was an unusually low total given that the season before Rovers were relegated with 51.
Currently the three teams above us are on 36 - seven+GD ahead so call it 8. In my mind the survival cut will be about 48 this year so given that we are currently on 29 points, we need to beat Wigan, QPR and Ipswich just to get in the race.
Even if we achieve that which would be a turnaround of epic proportions in itself, we'd then be looking for a further 10 points from 5 games.
If those games were against teams with nothing to scrap for and we were on a winning streak with confidence high, it might be a possibility, but unfortunately they are against Boro, Villa and Derby who are all competing for playoff places, Rovers who are probably safe already but it's a derby match, and finally Brentford who are the only remaining fixture with no particular incentive to beat us other than pride.
Barring a miraculous change in form and performance AND a freak set of results for other clubs, we have little to no chance of surviving now. But like most fans, I'm hoping that miracle happens.

With Basran etc pulling out of the deal to buy the club, somehow this thread takes on a whole new meaning.
Can we survive is now a whole new ball game.

In the division? No.
As a football club? Yes.
But it will be a long time before we recover from the problems that have beset us over the last few years even if new owners come in next week or the week after (as the latest reports seem to suggest) and probably several years before we become a solid championship level club let alone start thinking of a return to the premier league.
