Midfielder Jason Lowe has been named as Bolton Wanderers' PFA Community Champion for the 2018/19 campaign.
He was presented with his award by Phil Mason, Club Chaplain and Head of Bolton Wanderers Community Trust, at the Trotters' recent home game with Ipswich Town.
Despite having only been with the Whites since last summer, Lowe has well and truly embraced life at the club and has been a key figure in the community so far.
A local boy having been raised in nearby Leigh, he wholly understands the importance of strengthening relationships with people, charities and organisations in the Bolton area.
His dedication has recently been rewarded meanwhile as Derian House Children’s Hospice were so taken by his manner and demeanour at the players’ Christmas visit there, that they made him an ambassador and patron for the charity with him focusing on their Derian On Holiday scheme which offers families a free week’s holiday at Ribby Hall Village.
Jason also paid a special visit to Walkden High School in October to meet youngsters who are currently in various local football academies.
He took part in a Q&A session with the teenagers and also visited their coaching sessions that they hold for younger pupils
Finally, he took part in a session with members of the Bolton Wanderers Community Trust’s Disability Football Team back in December, spending time teaching the youngsters skills and sharing his experiences.
And speaking following the presentation of his award, the 27-year-old revealed his delight at receiving the accolade.
"We know how important the football club is to the local community of Bolton and as players, we just want to play our part in strengthening the relationship Bolton Wanderers has with the town as a whole," he said.
“We love getting out into the community and since I’ve been at the club, I feel I’ve done a variety of visits which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed.
“To be asked to become an ambassador for Derian House meanwhile is a huge honour - it was an absolute privilege to visit the hospice before Christmas. It is a truly incredible place and to be able to play a small part in their day was a pleasure.
“The staff there are an absolute credit to the charity and for us to be able to go down, hand out some gifts and really learn about the place was very humbling and really makes you appreciate what you have and how lucky we are to be in the position we are.
"It's never about the awards, but to be recognised as Bolton Wanderers' PFA Community Champion is something I am incredibly proud of."
