I've always thought Rory Stewart comes across well when I've seen him interviewed. If I was a Tory that's who I'd want as leader.
I suppose it comes back to who has the most influence in the party. ERG and the other Brexit hardliners will want Boris, more moderate will prefer Gove. I can't see another Remainer getting the job though.

I saw a recent interview with Sophy Ridge and he seemed refreshingly open and honest about himself.

I think the party might want to avoid appointing someone who fits the bill of a stereotypical public school toff.
They have a serious image issue and Rory Stewart ain't gonna fix that.
Good choice if you're a labour voter though.

Are any of the candidates not public school toffs?

It's the perception I'm talking about. Most MPs of all parties are similar.

Tricky to find a non public school toff in a party that’s made up of and run for public school toffs.
Sajid Javid maybe?

I'd take a traffic cone over May.
Whatever happens the Tory's are heading for opposition.

He once suggested we should help Iran develop a nuclear bomb.
You couldn't make it up.

Boris is the one that makes it up. He is a serial liar and has been sacked more than once for lying. Yet plenty of people are so stupid that they think he should be prime minister.
Not that Hunt would be much better.
Or Corbyn.

The Tory line up for the top job ( all 13 of them) were a commentary on the dire, piss poor level of political leadership in this country across all parties. The only Tory I would have voted for ( I can't vote- I'm not a Tory party member) would have been Ruth Davidson who leads the Scottish Tory party. Fresh ,honest, direct, no bullshit. She puts the Westminster Tories to shame.
How on earth are we considering a buffoon like Johnston who's political life has been hallmarked by gaffes, tomfoolery and general puerile activity. He has no gravitas at all.
